SUMMARY: Entry level position to assist QC inspectors with the incoming preliminary inspections and to gather practical experience with the intention of transitioning to a General or full time QC inspector position. Works under supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Has basic knowledge of aircraft.

* Ability to read and understand AMM, SRM or Engineering data.

* Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels and keep co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.

* Complete job assignments in a timely manner.

* Complete on-the-job-training (OJT) forms and required reading.

* Help with general clean-up of work area.

* Responsible for accurately clocking to jobs.

* Regular and prompt attendance.

* Effective and appropriate conduct with co-workers.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Accomplish incoming preliminary inspections on aircraft/components in accordance with customer cards or manufacturer’s manuals.

* Accurately identify aircraft discrepancies within the scope of inspection.

AUTHORITY:

* Perform preliminary inspections within the structure and limitations of the DI program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

N/A

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY:

* Duties shall include observing all company, health, safety and environmental rules. Also, assist to ensure the entire work area is maintained to a high standard of housekeeping and low incidence of physical hazards. All accidents must be promptly reported to your supervisor or manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Applicant must be flexible to work a variety of shift schedules and shift hours. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

* Good verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to read and interpret documents as well as communicate effectively with other all personnel at all levels regarding job related issues.

* Must have knowledge of fundamental maintenance operations and practices.

* Ability to perform basic and intermediate mathematical functions.

* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

* Airframe and/or Powerplant certificate and level of skill customarily acquired after one year as a General Mechanic, or two years of related commercial / military aircraft experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Note: applicants with Airframe certificate only would be restricted to incoming inspection functions only, Powerplant certificate is required to progress into a (Apprentice II QC) or full time QC Inspector position.

ENVIRONMENT:

* The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to high.

* May occasionally work near moving mechanical parts in high, precarious places and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

* This position requires the possible use of a respirator.
