Aircraft Mechanic III/Lead - UH60 A/L

The Aircraft Mechanic III /Lead performs the full range of UH60A/L Mission Design Series (MDS) aircraft maintenance and maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of complex to extreme difficulty.

  • Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.

  • Make entries in aircraft logs and records, and responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

  • Plan, conduct, and supervise aircraft technical inspections.

  • Compute basic weight and balance records.

  • Ensure compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis Program and test measuring diagnostic equipment calibration.

  • Provide lower-level technicians guidance in aircraft repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards and operational policies.

  • Prepare evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance repair and related activities.

  • Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five (5) or more year’s aviation maintenance experience within the past six (6) years on the specific Mission design series UH60 A/L (MDS).

  • Experience in maintenance, modification and repair of tactical aircraft systems of the specific MDS and their associated components.

  • Valid FAA Airframe & Power plant (A&P) License is preferred.

  • Must be in possession of a U.S. Passport and be able to travel internationally with minimum 6 blank pages and 2 plus year validity on expiration date of passport at the time of hiring.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain NAC-I clearance.  Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain/maintain NAC-I Clearance.

  • Previous experience with aircraft structural repair, modification, metalworking and corrosion protection treatment preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.

  • Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.

  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.

  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.

  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.

  • Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.

  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.

  • May work in maintenance shop or outside.

  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.

  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.

  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.

  • Work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in weather (temperature, wind, rain, etc.).

  • Must be able to travel to and between remote locations in austere and/or hostile environments.

  • May require travel to and between remote location(s) in austere environments and in all weather conditions.
