My client is a world leader in aircraft design and production and is looking for an AIRCRAFT HANDLING TECHNICAL LEADER.

LOCATION: Philadelphia (USA)

CONTRACT: to be defined

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibility for TILTROTOR aircraft Handling Qualities development and certification activities, including test plan development, execution, design evolution and showing-compliance.

Support the program by leading analysis of aircraft aeromechanics and flight dynamics.

Manage cross discipline activities to ensure proper integration with flight controls and serve as co-leader of aircraft Control Law team.

Manage employees and contractors to achieve program objectives.

Collaborate to develop company-wide methodology, tools, process and procedures for multi-disciplinary development and validation for fly-by-wire control laws for future products.

DUTIES:

The main list, but not complete:

  • Plan and lead analytical studies to support the safe completion of the flight characteristic substantiation, the development of system that impact aircraft performance.
  • Lead aircraft handling qualities certification test and analysis activities. Ensure tests can be executed efficiently and tools and processes are in place to analyze and report test result.
  • Manage Flight Mechanics/Handling Qualities engineers and contractors activities and professional development.
  • Manage project activities including planning, budgeting, reporting for areas of responsibility.
  • Manage simulation and analytical models to ensure accuracy and effectiveness for design and certification.
  • Provide cross discipline  leadership for development of aircraft system, including flight control laws, flight test and problem report/squawk process, to ensure optimal design for business, customer and certification objectives.
  • Manage engineering flight simulation lab.
  • Develop and implement innovative control law design solution.
  • Support flight test program by participating in test plan development, real time test monitoring in telemetry room.
REQUIREMENTS:

  • US Citizenship required – Analytical tools used are ITAR controlled
  • 15 or more years’ engineering experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a technical leadership role
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a flying qualities, handling qualities, aeromechanic or flight dynamics engineer
  • 5 years of experience performing simulation, design and testing of rotorcraft flight control laws and flyby-wire flight control systems
  • Strong understanding of flyby-wire control system and control law design, flying/handling qualities testing, tiltrotor technology
  • Practical experience with FAA certification processes
  • Prove experience to create plans, communicate them and execute them.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
QUALIFICATION:

  • MS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
