Job description

Wire Installation Design Engineer (Safran Electrical & Power USA, LLC – North Charleston, SC)
Job Duties: Interface with external and internal customers on installation and bundle assembly issues by coordinating solutions for 2D and 3D Wire Harness Installation Designs. Work with remote site's on-site representative and customer (from wing, fuselage, propulsion, electrical departments) for technical meetings and reviews ensuring technical meetings and reviews ensuring technical commonality for A/C. Coordinate and provide remote sites technical direction, work packages, and instruction. Coordinate and lead technical impact assessments on all engineering changes coming from the customer or the Airframe partners. Engage in electrical/mechanical, systems, or product engineering while working directly with the Original Equipment Manufacturers. Supervise the team's day-to-day activities and work assignments. Responsible for coordinating all Logical activities with the design team. Track issues and manage resolutions for the remote work package. Collaborate and coordinate with customer to develop design solutions. Contact subcontractors and suppliers to exchange technical data and coordinate project execution. Ensure application of business unit best practices and identifies the need for enhanced processes, methods, and tools. Translate program technical requirements into work requirements, processes, and tasks. Identify and communicate the need for new/enhanced design requirements. Ensure design optimization through commonality, cost, weight, ability to produce, and maintainability of design. Communicate and/or implement design solutions. Ensure compliance to design requirements. Investigate and resolve design issues. Provide Major/Minor determination for change classification as a Delegated Engineering Representative (DER). Lead design activities and mentor lesser experienced team members.

Job requirements

The position requires a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Engineering or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or within the aerospace industry. [In lieu of a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) and 2 years of experience as stated, will accept a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) and 5 years of experience as stated]. 2 years of stated experience must include the following: Using CATIA V5 and/or ENOVIA (or equivalent 3D CAD design experience such as ex ProE or Unigraphics); Wire Harness Installation and Wire Harness Assembly design activities, process, and tools; configuration management; fabrication/manufacturing processes for applicable designs; integrating System/Airframe designs; and MS Office computer and applications.
