Supervises day-to-day transportation functions to ensure driver performance, customer satisfaction, and that Department and Company objectives for safety, efficiency, reliability, and productivity are met or exceeded.

• Plans, implements, and monitors day-to-day transportation operations, including, delivery reliability, and manpower needs
• Reviews and schedules equipment and manpower to meet customer needs and on-time performance
• Motivates employees, including performance evaluation to achieve a positive work environment
• Supervises employees, including interpretation of rules in a union work environment, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action as required
• Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary

3 to 6 years of work experience in transportation or food distribution, including supervisory responsibilities and union work environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Labor contract and labor union environment
• Relevant safety policies, practices and procedures
• Management/supervisory concepts and techniques
• Budgetary concepts and procedures
• PC word-processing/spreadsheet software applications
• Scheduling and routing

Special Requirements

Skill and ability to:
• Supervise a diverse workforce of up to 30 employees
• Resolve scheduling conflicts
• Supervise and motivate employees in a team-based environment
• Prepare administrative and technical documents and reports
• Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service
• Able to drive a high-lift 22’ truck
