Job Summary


The training Officer will provide and where required, coordinate training activities on station including delivery of training to employees in classroom and in job activities. The training officer will work with the Station Operations Manager to ensure skills gaps are closed through effective planning and delivery of training.


The successful candidate will play a key part in station recruitment supporting advertising initiatives, assessment days and the entire interview and selection process.

Job Responsibilities

  • To develop, coach and mentor line trainers
  • Plan and allocate tasks to line trainers to assist with up-skilling and compliance
  • Liaise with department managers to ensure training needs are fulfilled
  • Maintain the training database and monitor compliance, as well as the organisation of paper records
  • To deliver technical and developmental training as required
  • Ensure training activities are carried out in accordance to national / international standards
  • Assist with the planning and design of new training programs
  • Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of training programs
  • Support employees undergoing work based learning qualifications
  • Assess employees in technical training and/or work based learning qualifications

Qualifications and Competencies 
  • Minimum of 4 GCSE’s grade A – C including English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working within the aviation industry
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence (or acceptable equivalent)
  • To hold, or be willing to work towards a Level 3 training or teaching qualification (e.g.  PTLLS, CLDP etc.)
  • Ability to travel between Swissport sites, with overnight stays when required
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and ability to communicate effectively
  • Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience coaching and mentoring others
  • Experience delivering training activities
  • A member of a training, teaching or industry related professional body (e.g. IfL, CIPD etc.)
