Excel Technical Consulting are currently looking for a engine Test Cell Technician to join a valued client of ours in the UK on a permanent basis.

Our customers test team is key to the company's core business activity and planned expansion in the repair and overhaul of Gas Turbine Engines for our diverse customer base. A fully trained Engine Fitter is able to complete to a certain degree of tasks related to the Disassembly, Assembly, Inspection, Balancing, Airflow and Test of a Gas Turbine Engines in accordance with the manufacturer specification and company procedures.

Your main duties will include the following:

Ensuring all repairs/test results, supporting and
certifying documentation are checked and completed.

Disassembling Test Equipment on engines as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

Performing Borescope Inspections on engines.

Assembling Test Equipment on main engine, modules and all sub-assemblies.

Testing engines and components as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

Preparing engines for dispatch.

Conducting any routine maintenance required and ensure all test rigs and measuring equipment are satisfactory, calibrated and safe for use, rectifying any unsafe conditions within the jobholder’s capability.

Releasing engines to service

You'll need to have strong verbal communication and written skills needed to work with internal and external stakeholders;

As well as a keen eye for detail you'll need to be IT literate.

It's essential that you will have knowledge of the principles and operation of gas turbine engines as well as knowledge and experience of aircraft documentation practices.

Apart from using basic hand tools you must have experience of the use and care of precision measuring and torque devices.


Ideally you will be familiar with quality procedures and documentation including processing paperwork, parts routing procedures, Engineering Repair Instructions, Detailed Work Instructions and Non-Conformance Reporting systems.

You'll have served a recognised engineering apprenticeship or military equivalent and ideally will also hold a HNC or equivalent higher qualification.
