This position will support the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program's Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) Engineering team as we begin to execute new scope of work for development of a new configuration of the GBI.
The GMD System is the first and only operationally deployed missile defense program to defend the homeland against Long-range ballistic missile attacks. The system provides early detection and tracking during the boost phase, midcourse target discrimination, precision intercept and destruction of inbound ICBMs through force of hit-to-kill technology. As prime contractor, Boeing is designing, producing, integrating, testing and sustaining all GMD components.
Base work location is Huntsville, AL, although some travel may be required.
Responsibilities include develop Ground Based Interceptor requirements architecture and requirements baseline for System Requirements Review (SRR) and Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and create and release new Interface Requirement Spec (IRS) and Interface Design Document (IDD).
Determine appropriate requirement verification methods, and create and document verification plans
The selected individual will collaborate with other teams and interface with suppliers, industry partners and government customers, including lead and/or participate in various working groups as required
Perform requirements compliance assessments and support functional performance assessments
Additional tasks may include:
Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, and other specialties to recommend a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
Resolves cross-functional technical issues.

Basic Qualifications (Requirements):
This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).
Minimum of 3 years of experience developing requirements and interface documents
At least 5 years of experience working on a military/defense program/contract
* Minimum of 1 year of experience with verification planning and/or defining verification methods on a defense program
Experience working on a missile defense program.
Proficiency with the DOORS requirements development tool.
Experience conducting Requirements Quality Metrics (RQM) analyses.
Direct GMD work experience is a plus.
Typical Education / Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
