Boeing Defense, is seeking an individual to lead System Safety and Environmental Engineering activities. The selected candidate will be tasked to lead critical system safety work on one or more of our major programs. The work will consist of leading detailed system safety tasks such as system and subsystem hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, sneak circuit analysis, and software safety analysis. In addition, the selected candidate will be tasked to serve as company resource contributing to definition of system safety and environmental engineering design program fundamentals.
Typical tasks include, but not limited to: documenting hazard analysis and risk assessments (e.g. safety assessment reports, hazard notification, and hazardous material reports), analysis and control of hardware, software, and chemical hazards. Additional tasking will include supporting design activities to provide advice and counsel on pertinent regulatory, safety and environmental requirements, reviewing preliminary configurations, and strengthening integration of hazard and chemical risk management practices within the System Safety and Environmental Engineering Capability. The selected candidate will also assist with the evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements and derived safety requirements, as well integration of technical parameters to assure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces.
The selected candidate may also provide relevant input/guidance to analyses for affordability, reliability & maintainability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other quality factors that drive a preferred configuration that ensures mission success. These tasks are accomplished within a collaborative environment with other Boeing teams and businesses to assist with and/or plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system solution.

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Military experience and/or familiarity with the nuclear certification process, while not required is desirable.
Must have an active (or are you able to obtain) a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Must be a United States Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15? “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
