Role Summary:
The role of Staff Engineer – Forging Materials Application Engineer is expected to provide direction and assistance to work groups to meet assigned objectives and business initiatives. Focus will be on forging support for design activity, cost initiatives, manufacturing, supplier substantiation, and supplier qualifications.

Essential Responsibilities:

Additionally, as the Staff Engineer – Forging Materials Application Engineer, key responsibilities will include:

* Provide overall technical leadership and communication skills for proactive collaboration with Engineering, Sourcing, Quality and Suppliers for Material and Process activities related to forgings

* Develop and maintain a productive working climate, promoting teamwork and cross-functional efforts to achieve and maintain excellence

* Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and technical direction to Engineering Material Science (EMS) Team members for their growth

* Interface between AvioAero / GE Aviation EMS global teams and Forgings Suppliers

* Support NPI components qualification, assure supervision of already qualified forging processes on fielded engines, guarantee suppliers onsite support as needed

* Guarantee support to field events investigations and product support activities

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Bachelor's of Science Degree in Material Science, Metallurgical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in Materials and Processes, Forgings Processes and / or related field (Including technical skills related to processes)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT :

* Ability and willingness to travel as required to meet needs of the business

Desired Characteristics:

* Master's of Science Degree in Material Science, Metallurgical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college

* Green Belt or Black Belt certification

* Relevant experience in forgings processes

* Solid technical skills and experience in the Materials and Processes field

* Excellent communication skills with global mindset

* Good decision-making skills

* Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
