EDUCATION: Minimum bachelor’s Degree in engineering classification required; Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical ABET engineering degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s and 12 or more years’ experience. Aerospace product engineering encompassing components of the entire life cycle – concept to delivery. • Engineering within Boeing commercial aircraft a plus. • At least 5 years' experience as a Part Manufacturer Approval (PMA) Engineer, DER, AR or CVE.
• Achieves PMA for reverse engineered parts • Provides input and oversight to engineering teams for certification procedure development. • Create certification documentation in line with regulatory requirements and established practices. • Organizes international meetings and coordinates resources to resolve certification issues. • Provides insight to key decision makers on technical compliance issues. • interacts with procurement group to meet EASA certification/inspection requirements. • Interacts with 21g manufacturers to assure airworthiness of finished products. • handles supervisor roles as required for employee training, allocation, direction and scheduling. Completing assessment of allocated team-members for appraisal, complaints and customer perception. • Experience and technical competency with FAA and EASA airworthiness regulatory agencies and their respective commercial aircraft standards • Demonstrated knowledge of design and manufacturing practices required for producing FAA-approved articles. • Detailed understanding of PMA, TSO, and STC processes and procedures. • Knowledge of manufacturing and finishing processes for aviation materials—various forms of steel, aluminum, plastic, and composite. • General understanding of Configuration Management and Quality Assurance. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Handles all coordination with customer/governmental audits/surveys and maintains working relationships with regulatory agencies. • Ensures technical correctness and consistency of products and services. Develops, approves, and implements methods, including use of independent reviews, to avoid and resolve issues that require ingenuity and innovation, manage known and unknown risks, opportunities, and changes. • Communicates and interacts with other CDG/Boeing organizations, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders to ensure effective integration and execution of plan. • Tracks progress to cost, schedule, and technical performance by using established best practice metrics, such as earned value and technical performance measures (TPM). • Obtains recommendations from team concerning items such as process improvements, workarounds, recovery plans, and work scope changes. • Presents project or team status to other CDG/Boeing teams, functions, management, and organizations, as well as customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to keep them informed of progress, help needed, and changes to plan. • Archives documentation according to approved records retention schedule. Acquires lessons learned information by interviewing, researching, and analyzing written and verbal communications such as historical reports, customer feedback, regulatory agency feedback, to integrate lessons learned into future team, project, and program plans. • Prepares and presents outcomes, assessments, and corrective action initiatives to CDG management. • Ability to travel for mentoring and/or customer interface, sometimes at short notice. • Assist in interviewing, mentoring, & developing trainees.
• The successful candidate will ideally have a thorough working knowledge of aerospace engineering, in particular interior equipment construction techniques and principles for large aircraft. • Previous experience in reverse engineering aircraft parts through to a PMA letter is required. • Previous DER, AR or CVE appointment is a plus. • Current DER Status is a Plus • Experience in component assembly and disassembly process development is required. • General understanding and familiarization of engineering practices and related technical publications • Ability to define and document processes as required • Strong PC skills with high proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office products functionality. • A working knowledge of an FAA ODA and/or EASA Part 21J organization is a requirement. • Previous product design and or development of aircraft interior parts is a requirement. • Minimum 10 years of direct experience in FAA PMA development. • Knowledge in aerospace materials • Ability to prioritize for maximum productivity for multiple projects • Experience working with international teams
