SUMMARY Performs a variety of engineering work including design, analysis, substantiation, certification, drawing interpretation and project management as related to transport category aircraft. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Create step by step work instructions for the removal and installation of hardware and components as they relate to aircraft structures, systems, interiors and avionics. Troubleshooting of noted aircraft systems Repair, design and analysis of metal, composite and metal bond structures Knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations FARs from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations as they apply to transport category aircraft. Knowledge of cabin specific regulatory requirements, including flammability and crashworthiness as examples Familiarity with the Supplemental Type Certificate STC process Familiarity with the FAA Airworthiness Directive AD process and rules governing disposition Translates guidance and engineering principles and procedures into usable working direction for assigned projects Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, preferably those created by Boeing, Airbus and Douglas. They should also be familiar with the documents needed to routinely maintain commercial aircraft Structural Repair Manual SRM, Aircraft Maintenance Manual AMM, Illustrated Parts Catalog IPC, etc. Ability to analyze Original Equipment Manufacturer OEM source documents Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc. and make independent decisions based on analysis of available data regarding incorporation on Customers fleet. Ability to quickly learn and adhere to Operators specific processes and procedures. Project Management skills multiple task Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures Applies area of specialty to design, develop and implement creative and innovative solutions to difficult problems Reviews progress with management and recommends corrective action along with review of alternatives Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities Travel as required All other duties as assigned CORE COMPETENCIES Commitment to company values and ethics Dependability personally responsible, completes work in a timely manner, and performs tasks accurately Motivation must maintain a positive attitude and strong work energy

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE BS Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred) or extensive experience and training in their respective are of expertise to be determined equivalent. Typically has completed five (5)or more years' experience, may have a Master's Degree and may be a registered engineer. Must have previous experience with Airbus and/or Boeing aircraft fleets. Must have working knowledge of FARs (from Title 14 of CFR) as they apply to transport category aircraft. Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and wiring diagrams required. Familiarity with Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process preferred. Familiarity with RTCA DO 160, DO 313, DO 199, DO 248 and DO 294 Standards associated with equipment certification on transport category aircraft. Familiarity with ARINC 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 Standards associated with equipment certification on transport category aircraft. Familiarity with MSG-3 and associated maintenance system concept on transport category aircraft. Familiarity with the FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) process and rules governing disposition. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, preferably those created by Boeing, Airbus and Douglas. Should also be familiar with the documents needed to routinely maintain commercial aircraft: Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), etc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
