ISR and Space systems, supplies products that protect and enable life in space, on land and under the sea. Our Windsor Locks facility provides Environmental Control and Life Support Systems on the International Space Station, including the space suit, and undersea in submarines. Our hardware is paramount to survival in harsh environments. HSSSI has an immediate opening for a software engineer within the Software Engineering team in Windsor Locks Connecticut.
This Software Engineering position will be supporting the entire software lifecycle for our embedded controller applications as part of an Integrated Product Development team. The candidate should be experienced in understanding system requirements, software design and development, informal and formal testing, hardware/software integration, and documentation required for aerospace programs. The use of commercially available off-the-shelf controller boards with operating systems (Windows, Linux, VxWorks) is increasing in our industry so familiarity with the associated Board Support Products in software design is a plus.
Qualification: Strong C/C development skills
Strong embedded software design and development skills for avionics applications
Understanding of data communications (1553, RS422, Ethernet)
Strong test and debugging skills (software and hardware)
US Citizen with ability to obtain DOD security clearance
Skills that would be a plus:
Experience with microprocessor cores embedded in FPGAs
Model based software design using Matlab/Simulink, MatrixX/SystemBuild, etc.
Secure software design for embedded Windows environments
Experience with COTS controller boards
Experience with Rockwell PLCs using structured text
Familiarity with hardware schematics
Education: B.S. or equivalent in Computer Engineering or Computer Systems Advanced degree in Engineering is a plus
7 years experience in embedded software development
