Director Flight Simulator Operations

- Provide 24/7 Flight Simulator Training device (FSTD) engineering coverage and support to resolve complex FSTD discrepancies through troubleshooting, and repair utilizing fault finding techniques.
- Support the FSTDs, allowing Alaska Airlines to meet its current and future training objectives 
- Conduct regulatory compliance testing and preventative maintenance procedures  
- Provide training and technical assistance to other technician personnel
- Assist Senior Engineers with FSTD modifications to meet current training needs, enhancing FTSD capability & reliability
- Ensure the FSTDs are configured to reflect the ASA fleet
- Establish simulator process improvements that reduce training interruptions, discrepancies and down time.
- Be able to fly an aircraft simulator (FSTD)
- Support preventative maintenance procedures updates on the FSTDs
- Utilize existing computer-based tools and utilities to improve FSTD maintainability & availability of the FSTDs to overcome obsolescence maintenance issues or updates
- Support pre-flights and other testing of the FSTDs
- Other duties as assigned 
- Embody the Alaska Spirit and conducts oneself with Professionalism, Integrity, Resourcefulness and Caring

- 6 years industry experience in additional to 6 years solid background in simulator engineering required. 
- A BS Degree in any engineering discipline is preferred          
- Electronic Engineering; understand complex linear and digital circuits based on electronic principles required
- Aeronautical knowledge; understanding of complex Qualification Test Guide issues (QTG) required
- Avionics Engineering; understanding of simulator concepts based on avionics interfacing preferred
- Pilot skills; understanding of aircraft procedures, aircraft systems, flight principles, and aircraft/ simulator handling characteristics required
- Hydraulic/Mechanical Engineering; understanding of closed loop control and motion systems and mechanical principles preferred
- Computer Generated Imagery & Visual Effects; ability to construct or modify advanced computer generated models & have working knowledge of visual image generators and visual display systems preferred
- Computer Engineering; have hardware / software knowledge across multiple platforms in addition to thorough understanding of computer / simulator software operating systems and languages required
- Understanding of the compliance obligations of Part 60 based on the Quality Management System in place (QMS) required
- Understanding of vendor drawings, including wiring diagrams, system diagrams and complex aircraft data required
- Detailed understanding of FSTD software utilities preferred
- Minimum age of 18 required
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
