The Southern California Design Center is currently seeking an experienced engineer with advanced and /or broad knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles.
* Leads the configurating or design of propulsion/Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria by utilizing approved engineering design tools and processes.
* Leads the definition, coordination and control of functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle to produce optimum vehicle design and performance.
* Leads the establishment of optimal system design by conducting trade studies.
* Leads the development and advancement of concepts for future propulsion/Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) systems and components by developing and applying technologies and methods to advanced vehicle concepts to meet current and future operational/customer requirements.
* Assessing and resolving product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
* Leading research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
* Leading design and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.
* Leading and working with and possibly directing cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.
* Identifies and assists in implementing product/process improvements.
* Oversees documentation of hardware related problems.
* Supports the development and documentation of Propulsion, Auxiliary Power requirements to establish the system design.
* Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups.
* Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
* Supports system components designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation.
* Trains others.
* Defines requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems.
* Defines, coordinates and controls the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.
* Develops specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
* Configures or designs propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.
* Supports fielded systems to assure continued reliability.
* Mentors and trains others.
* Works under minimal direction.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification:
Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
* Primary and/or secondary structure design.
* Experience working on a propulsion related product or service.
* Design or analysis experience with nacelle, propulsion, auxiliary power, or primary structure on large fixed winged aircraft.
* Experience with 777, 737, 747, or 767 Boeing Commercial Aircraft.
* Experience in a leadership role.
