Job Summary Rockwell Collins is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Sr. Systems-Software Engineering position in our Government Systems Flight Management Applications department. Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, this position’s primary responsibility is to lea a project team that develops system requirements, create software, establish test cases, implement test software, and perform testing on a variety of rotary and fixed wing applications. This individual must have experience in the design and development phases of the life cycle specific to software and systems engineering. Demonstrated success with leadership team environment is critical as this individual would be leading an AGILE development team comprised of software and system engineers. This individual must also have demonstrated success in communication as this individual would be interacting directly with program management, other platform and sub-system teams, and the customer directly. Job Responsibilities * Other responsibilities and job requirements include: * Cognizance of cost, schedule, and budget commitments and variance * Understanding of systems and software development tools (DOORS, Python, ADA, Matlab) * Experience with the design and development process in the creation of new products and features * Experience interacting with domestic and international customers and peers * Time management skills - work unsupervised, multi-task and coordinate work * Leadership skills - get buy in from a team to create and execute a plan * Basics of risk management (identify, quantify, and mitigate risks) * Effective communication (written, verbal, interpersonal) * Scope and change management * Familiarity with the AGILE development process * Familiarity with Flight Controls, Flight Management Applications, and/of Flight Management products * Familiarity with aerospace and avionics * Willingness to travel (domestic and international <10%) Basic Qualifications Requirements: * US Citizenship * Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline * Hands-on experience with avionics and flight deck controls is preferred. * Certification experience with avionics, specifically DO-178B/C is also preferred. * Experience in the defense or aerospace industry is preferred.
