SUMMARY:

Under the direction from the Director of Engineering, Managers, or IPT Leaders, the Senior Material and Process Engineer is responsible for developing requirements, planning, coordination of execution, and the reporting of all materials and process testing and qualifications that are required by the business. The Senior Materials and Process Engineer have sufficient experience to synthesize Material and Processing sub-tasks to meet all program and regulatory requirements. As a technical leader, this engineer provides technical guidance to other engineers, internal and external customers within a professional work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*

Leads Material and Process Engineers or other Engineers in program activities related to material qualification and processing of composite materials.

*

Generates detailed program schedules, test matrices, test plans and procedures to meet the Materials and Process requirements of the product, and reports status on a regular basis.

*

Coordinates with Manufacturing Engineering, Production Planning, Procurement and Shop Operations to ensure execution of Materials testing activities meets planning and regulatory/technical requirements.

*

Prepares all forms of documentation required to report the results of analysis, tests and design activities conducted and can effectively present them to engineering, manufacturing, management and the customers.

*

Develops engineering and program cost estimates including estimating tooling and fixture cost that are required to complete testing. Candidate must understand process development and risk reduction costs, engineering design and specification development cost.

*

Produce, control and maintain AAR material test allowables database.

*

Develop and maintain material and process specifications, including the company’s Qualified Products List (QPL).

*

Define qualification requirements for materials and equipment.

*

Certify alternate materials for the use of existing production programs, Sales and support activities will be required.

*

Adhere to all AAR Composites Safety Procedures and Safety Accountabilities (Ref. SP-011).

*

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

*

Bachelor’s degree from ABET accredited curriculum in engineering (Aerospace preferred).

*

Five to Eight years of aircraft, mechanical or product design experience with focus on Materials and Process.

*

Three years’ experience in composite fabrication, manufacturing methods/processes preferred.

*

Knowledge of FAA certification and documentation requirements.

*

Knowledge of conventional design standards and practices.

*

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Project)

*

Experience in Computer Aided Design software (CATIA v5) preferred.

*

Knowledge of conventional design standards and practices (ASME Y14.5M-1994) preferred.

*

Must be US Citizen and be able to meet OPSEC requirements.
