American Airlines, Inc. has multiple openings for a Senior Engineer, IT Infrastructure to perform the following duties: Responsible for infrastructure implementations based on designs from infrastructure architects. Perform detailed technical analysis on the IT designs and provide appropriate feedback to the architects, and to direct system administrators in their implementation. Design and implement innovations that improve software engineering velocity, infrastructure resiliency, security, and data availability. Define standards for configuration, monitoring, reliability, and performance. Create and modify technical documents including runbooks and software installation guides, maintain artifacts in a project collaboration site, and create and monitor service requests. Provide troubleshooting expertise and assist with ad-hoc IT projects. Provide expertise for IBM WebSphere and Pivotal TC application servers; Install and configure HP Blade servers with Unix/Linux - Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Oracle Solaris and build new Virtual machines on VMware platform using templates and clone. Plan, coordinate, and implement OS (RHEL and Oracle Solaris) patches to meet security requirements and corporate standards. Create and troubleshoot shell scripts to automate system administration tasks for Unix/Linux servers; Provide performance tuning, monitor, and support Unix/Linux servers and setup alert notification via emails. Install, monitor, and support WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Liberty, IBM HTTP/Apache Web Servers on Unix/Linux environment. Provide technical support for Production J2EE stack implementation with understanding of distributed J2EE containers.
Master’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field, plus 3 years of experience in Websphere and Tomcat administration on Linux, plus demonstrated experience in: Installing, configuring, and supporting WebSphere and Pivotal TC middleware; Linux and Unix Administration (Oracle Solaris and Red Hat Linux Operating Systems); Building multiple servers from kickstart, VMware templates, and ISO images; Scripting and automation; Troubleshooting issues and making system changes to resolve issues; VMware (virtualization); NAS and SAN storage; J2EE design patterns and best practices; Developing software using agile methodologies; IBM BlueMix PaaS; Cloud Foundry; DevOps environment using Git, Maven, and Jenkins; Dynatrace and New Relic application performance monitoring systems; Running Docker containers in Kubernetes; Infrastructure components using SCRUM Agile methodology; and Management of application security certificates. A bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience will be accepted in the alternative.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week/8 a.m.-5 p.m./M-F.
