Lead the multi-disciplined Material Management Department through management, support and direction of team leaders with specific empasis on:
Driving initiatives supporting fundamental improvements to inventory control, supply/warehouse activities and workflow improvements (e.g. Spend Analysis with integration into division budgets, Negotiation Strategy, Inventory Reduction/Optimization, Flow Analysis, 5S, Kan Ban, Lean Practices, and Equipment improvements).
Procurement of goods and repair services
Material planning, asset/inventory management and parts allocation
Logistics and warehousing
Develop relevent metrics for continuous assessment and improvement of material management related performance standards.
Determine the optimal stocking levels to support the operations, while minimizing obsolescence and company holding costs.
Ensure the proper accountability, accuracy and safe-keeping of all inventory held in stock per all regulatory requirements (OSHA, FAA, DOT, etc.).
Reduce spend and/or drive productivity improvements in line with department targets (KPIs).
Collaborate with all departments to identify sourcing requirements and perform analysis to determine the scope of the requirements.
Participate in RFx development, supplier evaluation, negotiation and administration of the Maintenance category contracts, including providing spend analysis and opportunities for savings.
Plan for future company growth and expansion by identifying all requirements, such as technology, manpower, tools, space, and skills that the department needs to support operations.
Train staff and internal customers in best-in-class inventory management practices to improve efficiencies and safety.
Provide training, coaching and mentorship to assigned managers/supervisors for career development and performance improvement.
Manage special projects as defined by the Managing Director of Strategic Procurement.
10+ years professional experience in the aviation industry with at least 2 years in material/supply chain management
At least five years of experience leading large teams (50+ personnel)
A proven track record of people development and leadership skills
Self-directing, assertive, and able to meet deadlines in an environment of constantly changing priorities and data
Must possess strong organizational and prioritization skills and a demonstrated ability of acting as an effective change agent
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
