The Field Service Representative primary responsibility is the Technical Support to the US Air Force for the KC-10 Fleet. This is achieved through working with the Air Force Maintenance Personnel at each of the Main Operating Bases (MOB), and Forward Operating Bases (FOB). The FSR also provides training to the Air Force, Training and Technical support to the L-3 COMBS employees and Air Force Personnel. Other aspects of this position are Troubleshooting Aircraft discrepancies, trend analysis, failure analysis, component troubleshooting, working with vendors on component issues, data management and support to supply chain on components issues.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide on-equipment and off-equipment support, expertise and On-The-Job-Training (OJT) to Air Force organization level maintenance personnel related to their area of expertise to assist in troubleshooting and solving maintenance problems

• Assist and support Contract Field Team(s) (CFT)

• Provide instruction on the use of special tools, support equipment and test equipment

• As a minimum, accomplish organizational level on-site, off-equipment repair of Booms, WARP and test of Inertial Navigation Units (INUs)

• Provide technical guidance on applicability of design improvements, maintenance and operational problems which have been reported by commercial operators

• Assist the Government in mishap investigation, when requested by the CO/SPM/MXG

• Assist MOB personnel during unit Crash Damaged or Disabled Aircraft Recovery (CDDAR) effort to include exercises

• Participate in Air Force technical publication reviews

• Assist the Air Force in preparation of material deficiency reports required by T.O. 00-35D-54

• Travel in support of missions when authorized by the ACO/PCO

• Submit a consolidated FSR Field Activity Report monthly IAW APPENDIX - O. Contractor format is acceptable (CDRL #A009)

• Provide technical support at the KC-10 Engine Program office on matters concerning the GE CF6-50C2 Engine.

• Provide on-equipment and off-equipment support

• Provide On-The-Job-Training (OJT) to Air Force organization level maintenance personnel to assist in troubleshooting and solving maintenance problems

• Provide technical guidance on applicability of design improvements, maintenance and operational problems which have been reported by commercial operators

• Assist the Government in mishap investigation, when requested by proper authorities.

• Be available to assist MOB/FOB personnel during unit Crashed Damaged Destroyed Aircraft Recovery (CDDAR) effort to include exercises

• Shall comply with the security requirements listed in Industrial Security Manual, DOD Series Regulations, DD Form 254 and the appropriate contract Security Classification Guide

FSR conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and technical directives. Interprets and communicates requirements concerning AD’s, SB’s and SL’s, and SC’s. Supports field in interpretation of technical data to resolve Airframe, Mechanical, Fuel, Engine, electrical or avionics discrepancies. Develops and implements plans to execute these requirements

Coordinates with the Air Force and other L-3 sites, sub-contracts vendors, and OEM to ensure that tasks are completed as scheduled. Must be able to communicate effectively with government customers, L-3 managers, site supervisors, and technicians in the field. Interacts collaboratively with all PMO functional areas L-3 Contracts, Subcontracts, Fleet Management, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain Management. This may include communications ranging from daily verbal and email communication, in addition to the development of written processes and procedures.

Develops and updates L-3 reports and CDRL’s as required using MS Office Format.

Performs other staff duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate's degree plus four (4) years of Maintenance experience on the KC-10 Aircraft or similar Aircraft Platform OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with eight (8) years of Maintenance experience on the KC-10 Aircraft or Similar Aircraft Platform.

• Must possess a current FAA A&P Certification. Possession of a current IA rating is a major plus.

• Must obtain a valid US Passports along with required Visas. Must be able to travel. Position has Rotation, Overseas 60 days duration.

• Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance. A current secret security clearance is a major plus.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. Must be able to work at heights 70 feet above the ground. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold.

Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dust. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, balance, push, pull, kneel, grasp, crouch, crawl, work in narrow aisles/passageways, and work in close spaces that restrict movement including aircraft fuel tanks for extended periods of time.

Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as picking, pinching, typing. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Must be capable of routinely performing industry standard ambidextriosities required to complete tasks. Must be able to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must be able and willing to enter and work in confined spaces, such as aircraft fuel tanks and beneath floor panels with clearances of 18” – 24”.
