Position Description


This is an ideal position for an individual who has deep interest helping customers solve motion control needs (Industrial automation, medical, motive, robotics, AGV’s). This position will be located in California, and is responsible for the sales in the Western Region territory of the US and Western Canada. This position will provide the territory and account responsibilities required to plan, manage, supervise and coordinate the activities related to the sale and promotion of products and services of Dunkermotoren. This includes facilitating the development of new market strategies, finding new business opportunities, maintain existing accounts, and advising and guiding the business in the most effective use of resources for the purpose of meeting the territory’s growth goals.


Manage all aspects of the sales and marketing process for the accounts located in the territory as defined by the National Sales Manager either geographically or by company. Included in this are the following tasks:
Generate sales opportunities
Qualify opportunities and customers
Gather the engineering data required to identify the solution required to satisfy the customer’s need
Communicate optimized solutions to customers
Develop a strategy for winning opportunities
Follow-up on all sales opportunities within a timely manner
Follow up on quotes
Secure purchase orders
Manage customer expectations
Effectively communicate the wants and needs of customers to the inside sales personnel and company management through established channels
Continually compile market information/intelligence with a view of providing market feedback to assist in the shaping of future company strategy and product development
Develop new business relationships with key customers in served market segments as well as strengthening existing customer relationships
Manage customer relations for the accounts located in the territory. Included in this are the following tasks:
Liaison with manufacturing and the customer to ensure that delivery changes are handled professionally and with the least amount of discomfort for the customer as dictated by the needs of the company
Liaison with quality assurance and the customer to ensure that quality issues are handled professionally and expeditiously
Liaison with engineering and the customer on the development and scheduling of prototypes
Liaison with engineering and the customer when solving technical issues at the customer
Manage any other interaction between the company and the customer
Work with local reps and rep firms (if present) to facilitate the sales process
Provide written reports back to the company on all developments of significance
Provide quarterly business reviews for their territory in the format specified by the sales manager
Participate in the company’s annual sales forecast for the following fiscal year
Follow all company policies regarding personal behavior in the work place
Follow company standards and procedures
Follow all company safety regulations
Work under the direction of the National Sales Manager
Other assigned duties as required

Position Requirements


Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in a technical or related field from an accredited educational institution; at least 5 years direct sales experiences; and/or combination of education and experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office and similar software.

Knowledge of the operating principles and application of brushed & brushless motor drives, and linear actuators as well general engineering concepts of linear and rotary motion and power transfer

Good verbal and written communication skills; must demonstrate excellent internal and external communication skills and have a strong service mindset

Must be able to work well within a team or independently, as well as demonstrate initiative and a drive for results

Well-founded industrial OEM knowledge, and knowledge of brush and brushless DC motors, gearmotors, drives, linear actuators, and related components required.

Additional Characteristics:

Must have the flexibility to work for the first months in Chicago (IL) area for training & networking purposes

Excellent interpersonal skills & inter-cultural openness with a global team

Excellent working knowledge of engineering and sales principles.

Must have the ability to explain complex concepts in a concise manner is also necessary for this position.

Passion for innovation is a must.

Willing to work outside and beyond standard office hours (8:00AM – 5:00PM Mon-Fri) when the situation warrants

Willing to work from a remote location to cover the geographical territory

Must be able to travel domestically and internationally; frequent overnight stays as the needs of the customers in the territory dictate; travel to Europe for training at the Business Unit Headquarters (Germany) & factories
