Description: Promote a continuous improvement environment that encourages accountability through the responsibility of involvement; while overseeing the day to day quality control of successfully completing customer orders in accordance with specifications and current Association of American Railroads standards. Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or company management.

Overall Purpose: To provide direction, leadership and expertise to the Quality Auditors in TRS-NA. This includes the supervision of all Quality Auditors in Mascot to maintain an efficient and highly motivated team with the proper skills and demonstrated capabilities for overseeing the quality of all customer orders correctly and in a timely manner.

Essential Functional Responsibilities:

1. Provide day-to-day management and support of the QCs in Mascot (scheduling, training, support, fill-in, input to reviews)

2. Provide a second line of defense for the QC’s to lean on for assistance to quality issues.

3. Support outgoing quality audit investigation, resolution, and prevention.

4. Technical back-up to the quality engineers with regards to specialized gauges (CPG, RCF, SRAG, CMM)

5. Provide gauge training to associates at the Mascot facility.

6. Provide technical assistance to resolve customer complaints and damage analysis.

7. Provide training to and certify training of new QC’s.

8. Utilize GQTS to facilitate the handling of preventive and corrective actions to systematically improve process quality.

9. Utilize SAP to move and scrap inventory that is deemed nonconforming by the shop QC’s.

10. Set a good example/ positive influence for all employees TRS-NA.

11. Recognize problems, determine counseling and resolve any employee issues within the scope of expertise.

12. Provide the work materials and shop supplies as needed.

13. Communicate any employee needs or issues to management.

14. Work with the quality manager, quality engineers, plant manager, and assistant plant manager to meet goals or complete tasks as necessary.

Physical Demands & Frequency: Requires medium to heavy lifting, standing, sitting, squatting, reaching, pushing, lifting, visual acuity and hearing.

A. Position: standing, walking, squatting, sitting.

B. Weights & Force: Up to 100 pounds.

C. Use of Controls: Must have command of a working knowledge of all machinery/equipment in specified area.

D. Vision must be normal (20/20). Correctional lenses are acceptable.

General Educational Development: Must have a one year certification from a college or technical school; or a three to six months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability to read and interpret documentation such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Requires the ability to write routine reports and correspondence in order to maintain and update records.

Qualifications/Training: Candidate shall successfully complete training program and as applicable, qualification requirements, as defined by the responsible functional manager. The ability to set-up and interpret gauge equipment and readings is desired. The ability of basic mathematic skills utilizing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals is required. Must also be able to compute rate, ratio and percent; as well as draw and interpret bar graphs. New hires shall demonstrate satisfactory performance during new hire probationary period

Training: Provided on the job under authorized supervision. Forklift certification/licensing must be obtained in order to perform the essential duties of the job.

Aptitudes: Requires a numerical aptitude, form perception, motor coordination, manual dexterity and finger dexterity. Also, requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form and implement them into action.

Temperaments: Able to perform repetitive or short-cycle work. Display the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.

Environmental Conditions: Frequent impact noise, seasonal heat.

Protective Clothing and Personal Devices: Safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes.
