Job Description:

This announcement is for a Quality Control Inspector with RavnAir Group. This position reports to the Chief Inspector of Peninsula Aviation Services, Inc. (PenAir) and is responsible for ensuring PenAir aircraft are in airworthy condition before approval for return to service. The successful candidate possesses a valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate, has at least three years’ experience maintaining transport category aircraft in a commercial operation, and a strong attention to detail.

This is a non-exempt, full time, benefits-eligible position. Position typically works nights in Anchorage, however overtime may be required as dictated by business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

* Must have a valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate;

* At least three years’ experience maintaining transport category aircraft in a Part 135 or 121 operation is required;

* Familiarity with Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP) and relevant parts of 14 CFR 121, as well as other pertinent FAR’s is a must;

* Must be capable of meeting PenAir standards for vision and color acuity;

* A comprehensive understanding of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices, applicable regulatory requirements, PenAir's Operations Specifications, and PenAir manuals through training, experience, and/or expertise;

* Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and organize workload;

* Must have good communication ability and interpersonal skills;

* Experience in the conduct and management of systems safety programs;

* Ability to perform the duties of this position full-time;

* Familiarity Saab 2000 aircraft is highly preferred;

* Familiarization and training in safety management, including policy and attributes, hazard identification, risk analysis and mitigation, safety assurance and corrective action, and safety promotion;

* Qualified through training, experience, and expertise;

* Requires a strong safety awareness and the ability to adhere to Safety Management Systems (SMS);

* Able to pass a comprehensive background check;

* Comfortable working in an airport environment around odors and sounds typically associated with operating aircraft.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Responsible for ensuring Company aircraft are in airworthy condition before approval for return to service;

* Uses OEM/type certificate holder manuals and other available technical data for standards and limits to determine scope of work necessary for components, engines, airframes and propellers to be returned to service or deferred appropriately;

* Opens non-routine worksheet items for discrepancies found during scheduled inspections and inform Lead or Production Supervisor, in a timely manner, of any discrepancies found to facilitate timely corrective actions or ordering of parts;

* Works with the Leads and Maintenance Control in determining procedures and parts required for efficient repair and return to service of aircraft;

* Approves the opening of Maintenance Carryovers (MCO) and extensions to MCO’s by re-inspection;

* Maintains a constant vigilance as to the general condition of PenAir fleet and brings any concerns to the attention of the Chief Inspector;

* Identifies and encourages “best practices” during maintenance activities and forwards that information to the Chief Inspector;

* Provides instruction to Aircraft Maintenance Technicians in new maintenance procedures, general system operation, and correct paperwork procedures (OJT format);

* Monitors engine trend and performance data for aircraft/engines operated by PenAir;

* May be assigned to perform auditor duties on behalf of and per CASS manual #52;

* May be assigned to perform On Site Representative duties for aircraft at outsource maintenance and conformity inspections;

* Presents PenAir General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and CAMP training materials to outsource maintenance provider personnel in a classroom setting;

* Performs Airworthiness Release following scheduled maintenance;

* Performs inspection of required inspection items (RII) per GMM 51.4, 14 CFR 121.365 (c) and 121.371;

* Classifies items as RII that are not currently identified as RII in GMM 51.4;

* Rejects “buy back” of RII tasks that were not performed to an acceptable or approved standard of work;

* If nominated, perform acts as Designated Engine Run & Taxi Qualifier per GMM;

* Responsible for promoting identification and reporting of safety hazards in the work environment or when confronted with an unsafe situation. Promotes a positive Safety Culture with co-workers and supports the organization in compliance with Safety Management System (SMS);

* Other duties as assigned and within the scope of this position.
