Job Description :
The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing project efforts in pursuit of FAA Parts Manufacturing Approval for airworthy flight hardware.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop design substantiation/certification packages for FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval applications
Develop 3D models and drawings for articles, assemblies, tooling, fixtures, etc.
Lead or assist in the development of manufacturing processes.
Coordinate conformity inspection activities between the company’s Quality Assurance department,
ODA, and FAA liaison
Assist in the development of customer evaluation packages for new articles
Develop vendor substantiation requirements for outside manufacturing vendors
Support activities related to new vendor qualification, including new vendor identification and selection
Support QA department and vendors regarding drawing interpretation, manufacturing methods, inspection methods, etc.
Participate in the disposition of non-conforming materials, including analyzing the non-conformance’s effect on airworthiness, and communicating with QA, suppliers, and the FAA liaison as required
Evaluate Engineering Change Requests and complete Engineering Change Notices for drawing and process changes as required
Answering questions from customers and operators regarding our products
Other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
3-7 years aerospace / mechanical design experience
Experience using 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
Understanding of and experience applying GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5M)
Experience with 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 21 certification procedures for projects involving Parts 25, and 33
Knowledge of aircraft engine components, controls & accessories, and/or aircraft interiors is required
Knowledge of system safety assessment methods and practices is preferred.
Knowledge of aerospace materials and coatings is preferred
Knowledge of conventional aerospace manufacturing methods, including; milling, turning, grinding,
lapping, stamping, forging, casting, molding, EDM, ECM, welding, brazing, heat treating, etc. is
A high attention to detail is required
Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks
Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Computer Skills: MS Office, 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Pro-E, etc)
