Production Supervisor

SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor provides supervision while coordinating the activities of the production workforce including planning, forecasting, risk mitigation, meeting delivery commitments, etc.. A critical function for this role will be focusing on lean manufacturing initiatives and principles (Kaizen events, 5s, eliminating "7 deadly wastes", etc.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*

Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership to, and reviews the work of assigned staff.

*

Assures the fit and alignment of components to conform to the specifications; validates that equipment meets tolerances.

*

Evaluates and make recommendations regarding methods and procedures in assigned area and measuring their effectiveness to meet the division’s objectives.

*

Acts as liaison with other departments and prepares written reports concerning assigned aspect of work.

*

Identify areas of improvement and facilitate quarterly Kaizen events.

*

Focus on continuous improvement and develop and implement lean manufacturing techniques.

*

Management of labor and material used including variance reporting.

*

Work closely with Engineering and Quality to reduce scrap and rework while achieving a “zero defect” mindset in product manufacturing operations.

*

Determine capital equipment and shop supply requirements.

*

Plans day-to-day department and/or shift operations, assigns people, authorizes overtime and controls costs.

*

Work “hands on” in all aspects of production.

*

Back-up to other Production Supervisor/Manager as needed.

*

Implement schedule training programs for technicians as needed.

*

Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment through the administration of the facility's health and safety program.

*

Interviews and recommends candidates for new hire, promotion and/or transfer.

*

Performs such individual assignments as the Supervisor may direct; established and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

*

Deliver annual employee performance reviews.

*

Manage workforce and deliver disciplinary actions, as necessary.

*

Advocate a working environment that promotes creative thinking, problem solving, and ingenuity while maintaining a high ethical standard.

*

Promote a team environment with a positive attitude.

*

Participate in ISO, AS 9100 and Continuous Improvement requirements.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

*

5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment required.

*

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

*

Experience with composite manufacturing preferred.

*

Lean manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

*

Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certifications preferred.
