As a Production Manager – Assembly
& Test in Moog’s Aircraft Group you can expect to
effectively provide leadership, facilitation, coaching, training and mentoring
in a team-based organization for the effective realization of our Assembly
& Test Operations. You will be responsible for managing teams of
technicians to assemble & test production units for on-time delivery to our
commercial and military aircraft customers.
The following skills will be required:

Process
Management: Leading team activities, monitoring
performance metrics and balancing headcount vs. workload to achieve optimum
process efficiencies. Works within the confines of capital and expense budgets
to maximize capabilities and meet performance objectives. This includes being
proactive in identifying issues and problems and initiating process improvement
projects or alternative direction to minimize potential impacts.

Tactical
Planning: Develops the tactical plans to achieve
strategic objectives. The tactical plan is flowed down to the teams for
implementation through a team captain/leader.

Leadership: Leads, motivates and directs the Process
Teams in achieving objectives. Applies effective listening skills when dealing
with employees to foster trust, build relationships and encourage dialog
leading to employee involvement. Planning and organizing skills are essential
for managing sub-process performance.

Resource
Allocation and Use:
Coordinates personnel moves, facilities and equipment utilization, determines
team size and make-up and defines resource needs on a daily basis.

Personnel
Development: Works to ensure the advancement of technical
knowledge & skills within the department.

Team
Building:
Fosters an environment of mutual trust & support between team members by
encouraging employee participation and building team unity. Provides immediate
feedback on performance, roles and responsibilities of team members. Ensures
team goals are clear and utilizes facilitative leadership skills to effectively
deal with daily issues. Encourages knowledge sharing across teams and
sub-processes.

Communication: Effectively communicates, through a variety
of media, information necessary for employees to make informed decisions.
Clearly defines group strategies, initiatives and objectives to cultivate
employee’s thought processes and actions in alignment with organizational
goals.

Administration
& Safety: Sets guidelines for team and process
operation. Proactively searches out safety concerns and implements corrective
actions to assure a safe working environment in and around the sub-process
boundaries. Responsible for ensuring compliance
to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) regulations and company policies
within the Assembly & Test organization.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree with a
minimum of 8 years of related experience or a Master’ degree with 4 years
of related experience
* Operational/Manufacturing
Background
* Training and Experience in Lean
and/or Six Sigma manufacturing processes
* Demonstrated advanced
Facilitative skills
* Ability to communicate both
verbally and in writing both up and down the organization
* Experience in aerospace and/or high-performance
control systems desired, but not required
* Experience
of working in an AS9100 accredited manufacturing organization is desired, but
not required

invention enabled the technology for Fly-by-Wire flight controls used in
today’s modern aircraft. In the 1980’s we led development of flight controls
for the B-2, in the 1990’s we developed the flight control system for the X-43
Hyper-X UAV, and today are delivering flight controls for Fighter Aircraft,
Rotorcraft, Special Mission, as well as Unmanned Aircraft.
