PRODUCT MANAGER (Strategic Development)

SUMMARY

In this newly created role, you will need to really understand market needs as you will you will be responsible for developing strategies to increase divisional sales and profits while providing premier customer service to the customers, distributors and field sales professionals. You will support both the commercials and military aerospace segments of our business as well as the industrial marketplace. The strategies include product development, competitor and market analysis (trends, forecasting etc), training, managing target account programs, strategic pricing and developing target accounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Ability to make recommendations and evaluations on new product opportunities as outlined in the Winovation process and incorporate a move forward market/Segment strategy with regards to our core aerospace product offerings (flight controls, fuel/engine, and power generation (industrial).

•Effectively conduct deep and thorough competitive assessment leading to branding and value proposition articulation.

•Establish product development procedures to effectively assist field sales in achieving profitable volume margins.

•Deliver an effective and customized strategy on various product offerings including differentiator, validated performance requirements for each market segment & application.

•Become well versed in Parkers product families including design commonality & difference from competition.

•Build an effective technology pricing strategy (value proposition, strategic pricing etc) paired with our manufacturing Strategy – i.e. Automation vs less automation, supply chain & level of vertical integration.

•Make recommendations and evaluations on new product opportunities as outlined in the Winovation process.

•High level of engagement and participation in or leading new product development teams as part of the Winovation process.

•Develop and present product training to field sales, customers and end users.

•Support field sales with information on products and application as well as conducting periodic market evaluations.

•Conduct competitive analysis of product lines and accompany and assist field sales as required.

•Attend sales conferences and trade shows as required.

•Assist in preparation and execution of advertising and promotional programs.

•Develop & revise product literature, catalogs, and technical bulletins to ensure accuracy.

•Facilitate exchange of information between engineering and field sales management.

•Partner in the development of pricing strategies as well as development of product positioning strategies.

•Monitor activities for continuous improvements in productivity and cost reductions.

QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor’s degree preferably in Engineering or a business discipline in addition to related (market/industry) experience.

• Demonstrated success in product development role.

•Five or more years in aerospace engineering or field sales in a related industry.

•Strong computer skills (Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office Applications)

•Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as proven and demonstrated strong analytical skills.

•Demonstrated ability to organize & manage multiple priorities using effective problem solving skills.

•Travel requirement - 50%.
