Role Overview:

This job opening is for a Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Product Engineer located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut that will support UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) fuel and actuation products used on Pratt & Whitney turbine engines. The UTAS SDE organization provides project management and technical oversight for the complex supplier/partner designed elements that are key to aircraft engine systems. The SDE Product Engineer is responsible for representing supplier engineering to the customer (Pratt & Whitney) and leading the supplier through the product life cycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Stakeholder in developing sourcing strategies, creating design packages, evaluating suppliers and source selection.
* UTAS owner of project planning (schedule, budget, resources, risk management) involving supplier design, RRCA and engineering changes.
* Development and maintenance of product Design Requirements; owner of requirements validation and verification (DOORS software).
* Technical interface between Supplier, Program Office, UTAS support functions and Pratt & Whitney engineering.
* Technical approval and coordination of UTAS technical specialist approval for product interface and product design/performance.
* Active participant in engineering reviews: RCCA investigations, Conceptual Design Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, Validation and Verification plans, test witnessing and reports.
* Stakeholder in product quality and field performance, taking a leadership role in RRCA activity through clearing of SDE products responsibility.
* For design and design change, launch applicable UTAS SDE Standard Work maps, populate IPT swim lanes, and oversee map closure.
* Coordination with SDE team members and supplier located in Rockford, Illinois (10 percent travel).

Qualification:
Basic Qualifications:
* 5 plus years of product development and project management experience within the aerospace industry.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Pratt & Whitney class 1 engineering change process.
* Experience managing suppliers.

Education:
* Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering; Mechanical or aerospace preferred.
