The job purpose is to agree Contracts with a supply chain to acquire specific goods and services for internal and external customers on time and within budget and to the correct quality standard, working to the company procurement processes. This may include agreeing contracts with new suppliers, including agreement with, and support of, new terms and conditions. Critical to this role is the requirement to prioritize the work in order to discharge tasks and activities effectively to meet the needs of the business. The person will conduct procurement activity in a way that optimizes commercial advantage for the business and minimizes risk.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • The person will request, collect, analyse and interpret information collected from established and potential supply base to support the bid process and subsequent placement of contracts and management of the supply chain.
  • Issue tender for spot requirements or for long term agreements.
  • Assess the supplier's capability, capacity and KPI performance levels and to define the vendor list for the tender.
  • Complete sourcing selections involving all necessary stakeholders.
  • Manage sourcing exceptions.
  • Negotiate and issue Terms and Condition of supply.
  • Negotiate and issue Long Term Agreements.
  • Negotiate and issue the Purchase order and evaluate the supplier order acknowledgment uploading the system.
  • Manage contract / supplier performance including Delivery Schedule Adherence, Arrears, Turnaround Times and Repair WIP.
  • Manage supplier and internal customer relationships.
  • Resolve commercial issues.
  • Provide timely and sufficient commercial information where necessary.
  • Manage and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Work within and support critical supplier focus teams.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • The ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications would be an advantage.
  • Good communication skills including the ability to influence internally and externally and solve problems using own initiative or on occasion by seeking assistance.
  • Good team working skills and capable of co-coordinating of some multi-functional team activity.
  • Computer literate (ideally competent with SAP and other company standard software i.e. MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc)
  • Relevant procurement or commercial experience with proven examples of performance improvement against core objectives (eg cost reduction, delivery schedule adherence, lead time reduction etc).
  • Proven experience in negotiating long term agreements and the relevant terms and conditions
  • Either proven ability to perform effectively in an equal or more advanced.Procurement/Commercial position and/or ONC/HNC Business studies (or equivalent) and or MCIPS Corporate qualification.
  • Proven ability to work to complex company processes.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK or abroad on company business.
