The Ceramics Group segment of PCC Airfoils and consists of three manufacturing locations - Wickliffe, Ohio, which also serves as Ceramics headquarters, Cleveland, Ohio, and Sanford, NC. The Ceramics Group operations supply ceramic cores and proprietary custom blended ceramic particulate systems used in the manufacturing of the investment castings. Products and systems manufactured in these operations include: custom blended ceramic shell systems, injection molded silica and alumina cores for investment cast airfoils, slurry cast cores for land-based turbine casting applications and ceramic extrusions. The operations are expanding due to sales volume increase and this provides unique opportunities for career growth and development:

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for meeting the business and financial goals of the Ceramics Group by assisting operations in process improvements. This will be accomplished through scrap reduction, increasing throughput, and improving labor utilization using Theory of Constraints and Lean Tools. Documenting and sustaining the improvements will be crucial to the success of the position.

Essential Functions:

• Hands on approach for identifying and eliminating process inefficiencies and constraints using various data analysis techniques (TOC, SPC, DOE, 6 Sigma, etc.)

• Work with plant operations to implement permanent corrective actions to sustain improvements

• Timely response to concerns by maintaining shop floor presence

• Identify, evaluate and implement new material and process technologies that will extend manufacturing and product capabilities

• Manage new job start-ups, minimizing transition time

• Improve labor utilization through time study methods

• Maintain procedural compliance

• Document work procedures and processes

• Work closely with other departments to ensure organization objectives are achieved

• Write and submit capital packages and equipment procurement

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner

Qualifications:

• Must have 5 years previous work experience as a Process Engineer

• BS in Technical or related field

• Communication skills, both written and verbal

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and documentation skills

• Proven success in process improvements using mathematical and statistical problem-solving techniques to identify process variations in manufacturing with many independent variables

• The successful candidate’s career will show increasing levels of responsibility

• Assertive, energetic, self-starting, risk-taker with the ability to break through barriers and paradigms for out-of-the-box, data driven problem solving techniques
