Rockwell Collins Test & Training Instrumentation (T&TI) Engineering is responsible for all product line and design engineering tasks related to the design, analysis, test and certification of Air Combat Training systems. The Principal Systems Engineer will work in the Government Systems T&TI Systems Engineering team that is forming the vision and strategy behind the products needed for the next generation Tactical Combat Training System (TCTS) and the evolution to the enablement of Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training capabilities.

The T&TI Engineering Department develops state-of-the-art Range Products for cryptographic, datalink, networking, and command and control applications. The T&TI Systems Engineering team is looking for a dynamic Principal Systems Engineer to provide technical excellence in a fast growing Air Combat Training market. This position will primarily focus on the strategic buildout of our product roadmaps to capture the growing needs of our customer base bringing the latest technological advancements to training our military fighters. The Systems Engineering team will be responsible for maturing a product line that will maximize reuse across the multiple System of Systems solutions that we provide. Identifying opportunities for innovation will be an important aspect as we look to provide new, leading-edge solutions that revolutionize the training solutions our customers desire.
Frequent interaction with our customer base to understand their needs and desires for next generation training capabilities
Work side-by-side with our business development partners to identify innovative solutions, demonstrate our capabilities, and clearly articulate the market requirements
Establish a product line process to manage key technology reuse across programs and systems
Drive the pursuit of new business through development of state-of-the-art design approaches for customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and providing accurate engineering bids to deliver the solutions
Support the advancement of our key technologies through internal research and development projects
Technology and product roadmapping
Utilize strong interaction and interpersonal skills to perform in a highly diverse engineering team
Support Systems, Hardware, and Software design teams ensuring that the implemented designs follow the systems requirements established for the product lines.
Must Have Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
* Must possess or be eligible for obtaining a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
* Practical experience in all aspects/phases of product design and system integration & test
A successful candidate may possess the following:
* Background and/or knowledge of range test and training systems.
* Background and/or knowledge of digital electronics and experience with digital electronics design principles and techniques.
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment.
* Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, while balancing priorities and schedules are important attributes.
* Self-starter with strong analytical skills.
The candidate must demonstrate that they have superior communication skills as a primary responsibility for this position will be frequent interaction with multiple engineering disciplines, the customer, program management, and business development teams.
This position requires an individual that can perform with minimal direct supervisory support. As such the candidate must be highly motivated and a self-starter. The ability to coordinate several complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules is a must.
