As a Preflight Mechanical Technician-Instructor (AVN/engine) at L3 MAS you will:

Perform modifications, inspections and repairs on the propulsion systems and associated components and on the mechanical systems as well as the complex verification and maintenance tasks of the CF-18 aircraft.

To achieve this, you will be called upon to:

* Perform mechanical work and visual, functional or operational checks of a complex nature on CF-18s (propulsion systems) in accordance with the Canadian Forces Technical Instruction (CFTO), technical drawings, Assembly booklets, standards of materials and processes and working instructions in force;

* Participate in the preparation of aircraft (excluding tasks relating to electrical, avionics and electronic systems) for the purpose of the flight or acceptance by the customer;

* Perform engine tests and secondary ground feeding tests;

* Verify, adjust, repair or replace devices and equipment of a complex nature such as:

* Powertrain and related systems;

* Cell/motor Interface;

* Auxiliary panel and secondary feeding;

* Air conditioning system;

* Fuel System;

* Borescope Inspection;

* Mass and center Inspection.

* If necessary, check and maintain the internal storage systems, seats and harnesses, accessories and fittings, repair metal sheets;

* If necessary, check and maintain fuel systems, flight systems, such as hydraulic, pneumatic, heating and ventilation circuits, flight controls, landing gear, reactors, fire detection, etc. by plugging in and using the power test benches and devices and performing all of the required actions as part of a task, as instructed;

* Exercise extreme caution and respect the health and safety bulletins of the company, etc. during the handling, refueling and displacement of aircraft and during the start-up of reactors and fixed points, etc.;

* Attend training and information sessions, depending on the needs;

* Inform the team leader or supervisor of technical problems, scheduling problems, additional needs and the well-being of technicians;

* Follow the rules of the control of the tooling;

* Consult the reference documentation such as CFTO, work processes and other related documents;

* Carefully fill out the inspection sheets, forms, documentation, records and other documents of the aircraft as required;

* Perform the tasks assigned to him by the team leader or the supervisor.

* Note that the Technician-Instructor will also have an important trainer role to play with the technicians of the Department of National Defense. Considering his many years of experience on the CF-18, he will welcome, train and accompany DND technicians in their day-to-day tasks and follow up with assigned team leaders or supervisors.

In addition, the Technician-Instructor must comply with the administrative and technical rules of the establishment where he is assigned in respect of:

* Health and safety;

* Foreign object damage (FOD);

* Flight safety;

* Documentation and records;

* Working Instructions;

* Process specifications.


Your profile:

* Diploma of college studies in avionics or equivalent experience;

* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position;

* Endorsement on CF-18 mandatory;

* Extensive experience of the CF-18 aircraft required;

* Communication skills in both languages English and French, oral and written;

* Good communicator and strong training skills;

* Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.

Operational requirements :

* Must be eligible for registration to the Controlled Goods Program;

* Must be eligible to obtaining and maintaining the government of Canada’s “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;
