Part Time- Intern (Fuel & Market Risk)

Position Summary

The JetBlue Intern program is designed to develop a pipeline of well-rounded future Crewmembers. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for placement within our Fuel Management team. This team oversees JetBlue’s single largest expense, ensuring efficacy, cost competitiveness, and continuous process improvement of the fuel life cycle. Additionally the team is responsible for the design and execution of the airlines hedge programs.

Essential Responsibilities

* Support the weekly invoice reconciliation process through utilization of our fuel management system (FuelPlus)
* Manage fuel inventory by station, tracking and reporting to leadership on a weekly basis
* Coordinate invoice credits with external business partner when applicable
* Partner with Accounting team to ensure proper fuel spend cost allocation
* Conduct monthly fuel spend variance analysis for actual vs. plan/forecast
* Patriciate in fuel consortia meetings and industry events
* Ensure internal audit compliance for physical fuel and hedging programs
* Complete project/analysis requests; partner with internal and external parties
* Other ad-hoc duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

* Results-oriented, forward-thinking, confident undergraduates and graduates with a required cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better
* Able to provide official transcript and pass a pre-employment drug test
* Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
* Position is based primarily in Long Island City, NY (LSC)
* Available for employment 2-3 days per week onsite for six months

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

* ·Managing multiple projects and working well under pressure
* ·Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively
* ·Excellent analytical skills and negotiation skills
* ·Passionate about the Airline industry, JetBlue and finance
* ·Organized with the ability to multi-task
* ·Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* ·Advanced skills preparing financial models in Excel
* ·A self-starter with the ability to prioritize assignments
* ·In the process of attaining or already has Bachelor’s Degree; Accounting, Finance or related discipline

Crewmember Expectations:

* Regular attendance and punctuality
* Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
* Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
* When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
* Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
* Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
* Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
