General responsibilities of the position: Visually inspect parts, before and after tests, in order to detect imperfections and irregularities, cracks, markings, scratches, porosity, inclusions, overheating and other defects on or below the surface, shown by deposits of particles, fluorescent penetrant or the effect of acid.
Prepare, submit to fluorescent penetrant, rinse and dry parts before inspection. Visually inspect parts under black or white lighting. Clean, demagnetize and apply corrosion-protection procedures as needed.
Prepare or participate in the preparation of chemical solutions, taking samples and empty basins as needed.
During pressure or flow tests, perform required setups and connections. Using determined jigs, assemble parts and set up pressure gauge according to determined pressure. As needed, manufacture gaskets on the jigs in order to facilitate work requirements.
Using appropriate documents, evaluate non-conformities in order to determine their acceptability. Accept parts within the limits of quality standards. As needed, prepare, follow up on and perform non-quality notifications according to the quality process that is in place, describing accurately the type, scope and location of discontinuities. Perform computer transactions necessary to follow up on parts. Keep appropriate records of various parameters used to establish efficient operations while maintaining statistical process control.
Work from process requirements, procedures, verbal instructions, standard non-destructive tests, drawings and all other additional information applicable or recognized. Must hold and maintain applicable certifications, such as FPI, MPI, STI, X-ray.
May be required to simultaneously operate several machines located in close proximity.
Specific responsibilities of position: Qualifications required: • Must maintain non-destructive testing accreditation (FPI, MPI, X-Ray, STI) and/or Adequate training in NDT
• Level 2 certificate for at least one of the four techniques mentioned above would be an asset
• Proficiency in French (oral and written) — knowledge of English an asset
• Teamwork and positive attitude
• ONGC certificate would be an asset
• Experience in an industrial setting
