Essential Functions

Lead and manage all planning and materials management activities including management of work orders, supplier delivery and compliance with government regulations.

Matrix responsibilities for Production Planning’s manufacturing resource-planning activities.
These activities need to help achieve division sales and RONA objectives and maintain 100% on-time customer deliveries.

Matrix responsibilities for personnel involved with the MRP database to achieve and maintain a high degree of data accuracy, integrity, and ownership.

Accountable for site materials metrics and Standards of Performance.

Help define and implement automated systems to plan and track material flow from suppliers through production to delivery to support a supply chain management strategy.

Ensure all the site/division’s material management policies are consistent with the inventory control objectives of the Corporation.

Facilitate corporate planning and materials initiatives including common part numbers, supplier managed inventory, site inventory goals, and supplier quality certifications.

Advise on supplier managed inventory or supplier based contracts with customers.

Support internal or external audit requirements relative to the planning or inventory control functions.

Prepare and manage department budget within established guidelines.

Effectively create and sustain production plan to deliver material and system cost reduction programs.

Provide professional development for all materials team members.

Explain and support company policies and procedures.

Benchmark world class supplier management systems and implement best practices in site/division as appropriate.

Actively support and implement lean principles and High Performance Work Teams at the site/division.

Facilitate Kanban, materials requirement planning technique, throughout site/division.

Major Duties

Provide leadership of Supply Chain Management activities for the site in order to maximize favorable impact on RONA. Supply Chain Management activities include materials planning; scheduling; inventory control; cash flow management; information flow and coordination and asset management.

Work with suppliers, business unit managers, purchasing, production planners, I/T and other appropriate resources to strategically plan and coordinate the flow of materials and information from suppliers through procurement to delivery. Matrix management responsibilities with business units and support groups for production planning, shipping, receiving and inventory functions. Provide direct leadership and management of Planning functions for site/division.


Knowledge of the relevant manufacturing, quality or operations support function that would typically be obtained through a Bachelor's degree in a manufacturing-related business or technical discipline, and eight or more years of progressive experience within the specialty area.

Demonstrated ability to perform the described role and responsibilities and obtain the desired results.

Certification or a professional designation in a specialty area (e.g. APICS CPIM) may be required or preferred depending on position requirements.

Four or more years of increasing responsibility for leadership within manufacturing operations, aerospace industry preferred, requiring advanced project planning and team organizational skills.

Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives.

Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities.

Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals.

Serve as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change.

Thorough understanding of production technology, capacity planning and/or specialty support areas including broad knowledge of business and regulatory environments and trends.
