Role Summary
The Manager, Occupational Safety & Compliance oversees the day-to-day administration and compliance of all Federal, State, and locally mandated industrial safety and health regulations, injury prevention and reduction efforts, and abatement of workplace hazards for Alaska Air Group's (AAG's) locations system-wide.  This Manager leverages subject matter expertise in partnership with each operating division to ensure compliance and works directly with OSHA and/or state agencies for the resolution of any complaints, citations, or findings.

Scope & Complexity
- This position manages occupational safety and compliance activities for Alaska Air Group (AAG) and its subsidiaries.

Key Duties
- Manages and administers AAG's Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) compliance programs, AAG Hearing Conservation Program, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) approvals and updates.
- Liaises with Federal and State OSHA agencies, US Center for Disease Control, and local health authorities.
- Provides subject matter expertise between Federal/State OSHA agencies and AAG's operating divisions, real estate, and legal to ensure proper coordination and response to compliance breakdowns.
- Works with operating divisions, corporate communications, emergency management, the AAG Medical Director, and Federal/State/Local health authorities in response to pandemic and epidemic incidents.
- Maintains knowledge of existing and pending legislation on workplace and employee safety and interprets and advises vendors regarding applicability to AAG's operations.
- Manages, calculates, and monitors employee injury metrics.
- Ensures OSHA-regulated training content and schedules for AAG safety training are in compliance with Federal/State/Local regulations and AAG's policies.
- Coordinates and support cross-divisional employee safety and health projects and initiatives.
- Partners with operating division leaders and embedded safety teams on injury prevention strategies and training techniques.
- Leverages subject matter expertise on employee health and safety best practices, including regulatory compliance practices.
- Revises and updates Safety Manual sections pertaining to OSHA, occupational, and industrial safety. 
- Assists with investigations of accidents and incidents involving AAG personnel, property, or other individuals who are under the supervision or control of AAG.
- Develops and presents findings to individuals and groups at all levels of the company, including executive-level briefings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Skills 
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience applying, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with Federal and State OSHA regulations.
- Deep understanding of workplace and employee safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Ability to take the initiative, multitask, and assume responsibility for results in a fast paced environment.
- Strong project management skills to resolve system deficiencies in a timely and effective manner.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to consult and communicate with others at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.)
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

- Preferred
- Airline industry managerial and/or supervisory experience.
- 2 or more years of experience in a safety or regulatory compliance function.
- Experience working with health authorities in response to epidemic and pandemic incidents.
