Position Title: IT PMO, Portfolio Manager


Position Summary

JetBlue is seeking an IT PMO, Portfolio Manager in Long Island City, NY. The IT PMO, Portfolio Manager will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of a project governance solution that focuses on prioritization, program & project tracking, and resource alignment across all IT initiatives.


The IT PMO, Portfolio Manager will support the implementation and administration of the project portfolio management solution across the IT organization with the goal of ensuring alignment across IT and its partners and improving the successful execution of IT initiatives. The Portfolio Manager will partner across teams to enhance project intake/demand management processes while identifying improvement areas, create and implement recommendations and action plans. This role will train and educate stakeholders on intake/demand management procedures and ensure team members execute in compliance with standards. The IT PMO, Portfolio Manager will maintain and support the development of project portfolio status reporting standards and metrics and will oversee reporting of their portfolio to IT Leadership on key metrics such as: budget health, schedule health, major risks and mitigation strategies, rate of new project intake rates, in progress initiatives, resourcing, etc.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supports the intake process of projects through the governance process, inclusive of IT projects and broader JetBlue initiatives.

  • Create a collaborative partnership among portfolio stakeholders that enables resource demand planning, budget management, initiative strategic alignment, change management, and project pipeline planning decisions.

  • Works with IT Finance to review financial health of their portfolio or projects and programs.

  • Manages portfolio management artifacts, decisions, communications, metrics, and reporting.

  • Supports Program and Project Managers within portfolio with delivery and reviews to confirm adherence to PMO methodology. 

  • Develops and delivers project management training to improve consistency and quality in project delivery. 

  • Develop and deploy project and program auditing strategy with a focus on visibility into trends, communication to steering committees, risk mitigation

  • Support product management with roadmap development with insight contributions from within, and across, portfolio activities.

  • Build strong relationships within JetBlue to understand the business challenges and opportunities.

  • Support the development, innovation and adherence to the JetBlue IT PMO’s Project Management methodology including the support & creation of project management best practices, tools, and ways for JetBlue to drive efficiency in order to reduce costs and add value.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or related subject and/or demonstrated capability through previous experience and education to perform job responsibilities 

  • Five (5) years’ experience in IT Program/Project Management with PMO experience Demonstrated project portfolio management skills (project intake, resource planning, demand management, budget management)

  • Ability to manage small to medium sized projects- managing scope, schedule, resources, risks/issues, and cost, along with supporting large projects and programs.

  • Effectiveness working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.

  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Outlook, MS Project, Microsoft Office tools

  • Creation of PowerPoint presentation for leadership audiences

  • Available for occasional overnight travel (Less than 10%)

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments 

  • Ability to work well under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment 

  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy 

  •  Strong research, analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities  

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience with Project and Portfolio Management tools a plus

  • PMP Certification a plus

    Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
