Key Responsibilities

* Ensure that all engineers in the commodity provide timely 24/7 support for resolving corrosion, damage, modification or repair requests for assistance from Base, Line and Shop on sheet metal, structural and/or composite issues

* Ensures compliance with all Airworthiness directives (ADs) and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs); Reviews Service Bulletins (SBs), Service Letters, OEM bulletins, SRMs and other commodity related maintenance information, to ensure compliance and that
latest modifications, upgrades, repairs or inspections are implemented if they are deemed beneficial to airworthiness, structural integrity, reliability or operational performance

* Proactively implements corrosion prevention improvements to HAL aircraft, revising or creating new Maintenance Program requirements to include checks, inspections or regular application of corrosion inhibitors to minimize degradation of structure

* Submits service requests as needed to OEM and obtains DER approvals when needed support repair proposals and modifications

* Maintains a complete record of damage mapping reports for 717 and 767 aircraft, ensuring that repairs made by Maintenance within SRM guidelines are properly routed to Engineering for complete record keeping and damage mapping

* Provides guidance and mentorship to engineers in the group. Ensures projects which are high-visibility get prompt attention and resources so that they may be accomplished in a timely manner

* Responsible to remove obstacles that prevent or slow down project accomplishment or issue mitigation for team. Responsible to look into new issues affecting HAL for the responsible commodity, and report up issues and activity for leadership’s awareness
and attention
* Takes on complete end-to-end responsibility for assigned projects, technical issues or concern, reporting progress to management and making recommendations on proposed course of action

* Utilizes high level of technical expertise and practical experience to disposition highly complex technical concerns; Develops and implements solutions to improve fleet dispatch reliability, passenger comfort and crew concerns; assigning projects to engineers
to act on findings
* Performs the duties of a Staff Engineer as required to complete projects within the group

* Looks out for development opportunities and enhanced training opportunities to enhance skillset of team and other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements

* B.S. in Engineering with at least 8 years' experience in the aviation maintenance industry, or an advanced degree and 3 years of relevant airline maintenance experience

* In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 10+ years of airline maintenance program experience, some of which was in a leadership capacity may be considered

* Minimum 3 years of commercial aviation experience with FAR 121, in the field of Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Regulatory Compliance

* Valid driver’s license
* Proven ability to lead others in an effective and productive way. Ability to get things done in a fast-paced environment, with multiple customers, deadlines and priorities

* Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects to balance work within the group, ensuring important technical updates are provided to maintenance documentation in an expeditious manner

* Must be familiar with aircraft systems on large commercial transport aircraft

* Must possess ability to analyze large quantities of data, utilizing statistical and numerical analytical techniques, tools and software. Six Sigma certification is desirable. Familiarity with Autocad / Solidworks is a plus

* Excellent knowledge of common MS Office suite of tools. Working knowledge of TRAX is desired (but not a requirement)

* Must possess strong organizational and prioritization skills, a demonstrated ability of acting as an effective change agent, as well as good oral and written communications and interpersonal skills

* Must be able to work flexible hours and on-call when required

Preferred Qualifications

* Masters’ degree in Engineering as well as DER or PE designation
* At least 10 years of progressively more responsible, airline, highly relevant engineering experience

* At least 6 years of prior management experience
* A&P certificate preferred
