Position Description

APU Engineering Mgr

 Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities and operations of an engineering department/project team.
 Develops and implements policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department/project team.
 Consults and negotiates with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports and findings.
 Assigns, coordinates and reviews the technical work of the department or project teams.
 May participate directly in the design, development and inspection of technical projects or in the engineering work of the department/project team.
 Oversees engineering projects to ensure they are technically sound and in compliance with all internal and external regulatory standards.
 Monitors the progress of on-going projects, makes recommendations for improving the process to meet the needs of the end-users, performs job cost reporting, budget analysis and reporting of overall project control.
 Determines if assistance is required from outside contractors, initiates arrangements, provides technical data and assists contractors with related support services.
 Exercises authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
 Actively participates as a member of the appropriate management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of departmental strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.
 Carries out special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements

 Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
 Strong project management skills.
 Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.
 Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
 Thorough knowledge of company instruction, company process and quality manuals.
 In jurisdictions governed by a regulatory body or with an association that is governed by local legal requirements, registration is required.
 University degree in an engineering discipline; or equivalent.
 Extensive experience in an engineering discipline, including supervisory experience.

Must be authorized to work in the US.
