Position Summary

Position Summary: Reporting to the Director, Engineering & Architecture Services, the Manager, Architectural Services will support the development of Engineering & Capital Infrastructure’s short- and long-term business strategy, influence forward-thinking management decisions and contribute to the overall success of the Airport Planning & Technical Services unit. They will be managing all architectural aspects of the GTAA facilities supporting Customer and Terminal Services and other customers in defining and implementing Architecture requirements of our terminals and airport facilities. This includes, but is not limited to: passenger flow and physical space planning for airport operations, preliminary and concept design development, airport ambience and wayfinding, accessibility of airport facilities, compliance with regulatory requirements and the Airport Construction Code , specification of asset restoration programs for airport building structures and the associated capital plans, space planning, and architectural design standards and specifications.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

* Lead and direct the Architectural Services Team to provide a high level of customer service by producing high quality architectural designs and projects that align themselves with the strategic plan, and comply with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations

* Provide input for new projects, design considerations and initiatives for the 5-year Capital Plan focused on the enhancement, upkeep and maintaining the integrity of GTAA campus facilities and assets

* Provide specialized advice and support for the Architecture and Interior Design function to support the Maintenance functions within Airport Planning & Technical Services for specific technical issues/concerns in a responsible manner that will assist in the asset management and life cycle performance of GTAA assets

* Providing Architectural advice and direction as required to assist other Business Units and clients with development new projects and establishing initiatives and working together with them to provide architectural services ranging from initial planning and design studies through to final design and preparation of contract documents ready for the bid process

* Provide or coordinate Architectural services ranging from conceptual designs and planning studies, detailed design development, and contact documents for restoration and capital improvement projects in a cost effective and timely manner including detailed requirements gathering and scope definition

* Provision of solutions that the highest standards of safety for airport employees and guests

* Provision of cost estimates to support facility improvement initiatives as outlined in Business Cases

* Acceptance of solution designs and implementation via contracted services

* Create and maintain technical standards and guidelines related to airport assets, providing architectural expertise and support to enhance and improve cost-effective lifecycle management for GTAA assets

* Develop and maintain policies related to Architectural Design and Standards

* Build, maintain and foster positive (working) relationships with Internal Clients such as Aviation Services, Customer Terminal Services, Airport Planning & Technical Services and external customers and key members of the Architectural and Engineering (A+E) industry/community·

* Model behaviours consistent with the corporate values and Rules of the Runway

Job Requirements


* Architectural Degree from an accredited university

* Minimum 10 years’ experience working for a Consulting firm in a client facing capacity

* Minimum 4 years managing a team of direct reports including hiring, coaching, mentoring and performance management

* Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance and RAIC
