The Structural Test Laboratory performs critical strength testing of new aircraft designs that is required for Civil and Military certification of the aircraft. As an Electronic / Instrumentation Engineer you will work within the Structural Test Laboratory supporting all aspects of electrical, electronic and instrumentation needed to perform testing. This is a great opportunity to develop your Electronic / Electrical Engineering Degree in an environment that allows the theoretical aspects to be combined with a real practical application.

Key Responsibility Areas

The main activities of this role will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Providing electrical and electronic support to the structural test laboratory,
  • Manage the electrical design of the test rigs, including manufacture of specific cable installations as necessary to integrate different test equipment,
  • To develop and support the instrumentation activities within the department and provide advice to other departments,
  • To provide stain gauge support to the Structural Test Laboratory and Design departments,
  • To support the electrical equipment specific to the Structural Test Department
  • This role may require you to activities on behalf of the company in off-site locations.
  • You are responsible for taking reasonable care of your own health and safety and ensuring personal working practices confirm to the Company Health & Safety Policy in the Test Laboratory

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. electrical or electronic engineering) or HNC/HND/BTEC and Apprenticeship together with suitable experience and a strong desire to work in an area of Electronic / Electrical Engineering with a practical aspect.
  • Understanding in instrumentation techniques including experience in the areas of strain gauges.
  • Ability to understand Electrical Schematic / Wiring Drawings.
  • Flexible attitude with willingness and ability to work in a team environment is essential.
  • Full driving license.
  • IT literate with necessary PC skills.
