In-Flight Learning Designer/Instructor

General Summary:

In-Flight Learning Designer/Instructor (LDI) is responsible for the development and delivery of all Flight Attendant Training courseware and programs.  The LDI delivers instruction and evaluation of both technical and non-technical information with energy, passionate enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Develop, revise, and maintain In-Flight Training courseware, as assigned.

  • Facilitate all Flight Attendant Training programs including Initial, Recurrent, Re-qualification and any special programs required by the In-Flight division. Deliver all In-Flight Training Programs in strict accordance with FAA regulations and guidance, Training Manual stipulations, Company policies and procedures, courseware direction and departmental standards.

  • Evaluate participant performance and behavior during all FA Training classes and events.  Provide leadership and guidance to line Flight Attendants and Air Transportation Supervisors.

  • Complete and submit all Training Program records and documentation in a timely, legible and error-free manner.  Maintain strict and appropriate confidentiality of In-Flight Training issues and all FA training performance.

  • Maintain subject matter expertise with respect to all Company and safety policies and procedures, Code of Conduct, the FA Manual, and the Flight Attendant portion of the Silver Airways Training Program Manual. Assist with interfacing with the FAA and other regulatory authorities on In-Flight Training issues.

  • Coordinate with the Director of In-Flight in the development and issuance of In-Flight Training Bulletins and In-Flight Manual revisions relative to Training.

  • Maintain all In-Flight Training equipment and facilities in good working order; report all discrepancies and needs to the Director of In-Flight Services.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to prepare and administer oral examinations, written tests and hands-on competency checks and drills fairly and equitably and in accordance with Training Manual stipulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach others, motivate and mentor students.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills.

 Typical Physical Demands

  • Must be able to speak and project voice in classroom, hangar and training center in front of others.  

  • Frequent operation of presentations, computers, projectors, emergency equipment and other materials related to Flight Attendant training is required.

  • Hands-on training involves repetitive demonstration of opening and closing aircraft doors and windows and demonstration of emergency equipment operation.

Typical Working Conditions

  • Position involves long periods of standing in a training classroom environment.  Involves computer work in a typical office setting, subject to critical deadlines.

  • Must be willing to work varying schedules including reserve duty, evenings, weekends, holidays and perform as a line Flight Attendant and/or ATS, if required to maintain the integrity of the operation.  Travel may require overnight trips. 

Experience and Qualifications

  • Two-year college degree or equivalent experience.

  • Experience as a Flight Attendant is desired.  Successful completion and maintenance of the Silver Airways Initial Flight Attendant Certification is required.

  • 1-2 years classroom facilitation experience desired (2-4 years’ experience preferred).

  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating course curriculum and training materials

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Articulate, and other Learning Management Software; i.e., SimplyDigi

  • Successful candidate must obtain Air Transportation Supervisor qualification.

  • Present personal appearance, conduct and demeanor consistent with the professional, customer-oriented manner expected of line Flight Attendants.
