Summary
Delta Air Lines has an immediate opening for a General Manager - New Airport Facilities Operational Design. Delta is seeking an individual to formulate and drive operational design in new airport construction projects. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with Delta leadership, internal and external partners, and ultimately be responsible for ensuring new airport facilities meet the future needs of both Delta Air Lines' customers and airport employees.

Primary Functions:

Create a strategy for new airport facilities features and design that contribute to both operational performance and customer/employee experience
Lead cross-functional teams at all levels of from across the Airport Customer Service (ACS) organization to gather input and intelligence that inform design decisions
Represent the ACS perspective as input into both existing airport construction projects and future airport design
Identify and ensure forward looking technologies and innovations are planned and implemented in both current and proposed airport facility development projects
Benchmark facilities within and external to the aviation industry to understand best practices which can be incorporated into airport design to improve customer / employee experience
Ensure frontline user feedback is gathered and considered during facility design, development, and testing
Lead projects associated with the testing of prototype concepts for potential future input into airport design
Primary interface to Corporate Real Estate to promote ACS interests in new construction planning and decision-making
Lead regular updates on new airport construction project progress and decision points for senior ACS executive management
Develop productive and collaborative relationships between airport construction project stakeholders, including Corporate Real Estate, local ACS field management, Field IT, Corporate Safety & Security, and Customer Experience - Marketing

Qualifications
Bachelor's of Science degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, business, or related field strongly preferred. MBA or Masters a plus. Minimum 5-8 years experience in airport or airline operations or construction project management required. Direct or indirect international facility work experience a plus.
Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary design exercises, on both medium and large scale projects involving multiple partners required
Has exhibited strong project management expertise on large scale, multi-divisional initiatives
Must possess a deep knowledge of design methods and best practices
Experience building customer and employee experiences, including process design
Demonstrated technology expertise, including understanding of and experience with front-end technologies and user-centered design principles
Must be highly adaptable, a driver of change, and capable of quickly rallying teams
Must possess strong communication skills and creative thinking, excellent storytelling capabilities and the ability to provide appropriate business, design, customer and cultural context; Effective verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to understand the business needs and translate that to help create and manage innovative concepts to solve those needs
Comfort working in a matrixed environment and the ability to work well independently on a closely-knit team, with varying levels of guidance and direction
