POSITION INFORMATION

Role Summary
The Executive Communications Writer creates and delivers executive internal and external communications for Alaska Airlines CEO, its President and COO and two Executive Vice Presidents, adapting writing style for each persons unique voice in a wide variety of media. In partnership with the external relations leadership team, helps manage an executive calendar of the most impactful and strategic external speaking opportunities. This high-profile role drives the development, implementation and ongoing management of master key messages, Q&As and a database of facts and statistics. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong analytical skills, who is proficient at developing executive internal and external communications that resonate with audiences and inspire action.

Scope & Complexity
- This individual contributor role is responsible for creating and delivering executive internal and external communications for Alaska Air Group (AAG).

Key Duties
- Drafts and edits executive speeches, talking points and presentations, bylined internal and external articles, op-eds, video scripts, emails, messaging and other executive communications as assigned.
- Partners with the external relations leadership team to shape, refine and maintain Alaskas overarching story.
- Creates and maintains a database of facts, data and statistics that can be used to illustrate Alaskas story.
- Develops and maintains a master presentation PowerPoint that all company leaders can leverage when speaking externally at community, business or industry events.
- Leverages technology and a strong process orientation to support an executive speakers bureau to manage inbound requests and proactively pitch speaking opportunities that advance Alaskas strategy.
- Partners with peers and contributes to strategic thinking and execution of internal and external communications strategies to ensure alignment to Alaskas overarching story.
- Ensures timely and effective execution of all executive communications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Skills & Education
Required
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate communications, speech writing and/or journalism.
- A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in communications, journalism, creative writing or a related discipline.
- A strong background in writing clearly, concisely, creatively on deadline and an exceptional storyteller.
- Ability to exercise careful judgment/sensitivity in identifying and framing communications.
- A solid sense of initiative and drive, a bias toward action, and a passion for getting it right.
- A track record of demonstrating good judgement, strong business acumen, and executing plans with a sense of urgency and a mind for safety.
- A strategic thinker who is able align Alaskas brand voice with our purpose and values, and our business model story.
- A great listener with a high EQ.
- Exceptional cross-group collaboration skills to successfully and independently work across many teams with a history of anticipating issues and taking proactive action.
- The ability to take abstract thoughts and re-communicate these concepts into a digestible format to a wide variety of audiences are essential.
- Capability to process massive amounts of information and feedback to deliver elegant, impactful communications.
- Detail-oriented, analytics-oriented, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Excels at planning, organizing and executing effectively, while running multiple work streams with different cadences and stakeholders and being attentive to deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Word and PowerPoint.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred
- Experience in or knowledge of the airline industry.
