The Brea site builds and delivers helicopter rescue hoists and winch systems to aircraft operators around the world. The Test & Manufacturing engineering teams design new systems, proposes design changes to existing platforms and also supports the MRO and Operations team with production and in service issues.

This management position is responsible for the test & manufacturing engineering activities related to the hoist and winch product family. This product team has responsibility for the testing and development of hoist components, test equipment (new design as well as production) and all manufacturing support for the operations team. This group is composed of manufacturing engineers, test engineers, as well as lab technicians.

This manager is also responsible for monitoring and controlling department expense, maintenance, utilization, and strategic planning in the engineering segment, specifically focused on manufacturing, testing, test equipment design, operations and support of test applications for production and maintenance, repair, and overhaul. This role will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and will be based in Brea, CA.

The successful applicant will lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians in projects and day to day support of manufacturing and test engineering activities at the facility. This role will be focused on ensuring operations activities are fully supported by manufacturing engineers as well as test engineering execution, process improvement, coaching of direct reports. This person needs to be an independent worker and team leader who can think creatively and solve problems in both employee and project management.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Develop requirements for related engineering processes.
* Lead troubleshooting/root cause processes and create positive solutions.
* Coach and mentor direct reports.
* Lead implementation of lean manufacturing and ACE principles (5S, setup reduction, etc).
* Support and develop plans to meet cost reduction goals and improvements.
* Support and provide guidance for new engineering projects including development of manufacturing plans.

Qualification:
Basic Qualifications:
* Minimum of 7 years relevant industry experience in a management position.
* Ability to understand and create business cases for improvements and process changes.
* Experience in lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement activities.
* Experience with test engineering of hardware to meet design requirements.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Highly organized, reliable and dependable.
* Team player with pro-active attitude and process improvement mindset are a must.
* Strong MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
* Ability to read blueprints, process procedures, layouts.
* Understanding of 5S, Lean and Six Sigma principles.

Education:
* Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or another Engineering discipline is required.
