Title Engineer / Senior Engineer - Interiors & BFE

  • Provide technical expertise to operations, purchasing and marketing departments on cabin interior issues and inquiries
  • Research, review and participate in development of data including service bulletins, FARs, AD's, and parts alternatives, including certification testing
  • Serve as primary point of interface between Hawaiian and interior vendors
  • Prepare, review and approve engineering authorizing documents (TRAX)
  • Evaluate technical attributes of new or modified aircraft, systems, equipment, and material, as well as new interior configurations
  • Manage BFE equipage and commissioning issues for new aircraft deliveries
  • Review OEM bulletins and letters to determine if applicable procedures can be improved or customized for effective and efficient implementation
  • Analyze cabin system performance and reliability issues, devise alternative actions and recommend appropriate solutions

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent scientific discipline from an accredited university. Alternatively 4 years of relevant experience in addition to technical education such as A&P license or technician
  • Familiarity with Airbus SCN and aircraft configuration / cabin design process
  • Knowledge of common office applications, CAD software, and Federal Aviation Regulations (Parts 25, 121, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to summarize complex technical matters. Must be able to confidently and professionally represent Hawaiian to members of federal authorities and industry
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and work beyond regular hours, including weekends and holidays and non-traditional hours, promptly respond after hours, and must be able to travel occasionally to vendors and provide extended on-site support to MRO providers during modifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of relevant interiors engineering experience in airline or aviation
  • Demonstrated history of above average performance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft systems, particularly interiors, seats, IFE, cabin accessories and appliances
  • Knowledge of FAR Part 25 and Part 121 requirements, familiarity with TSO requirements and FAA aircraft certification processes (ACO / DER)
  • Demonstrated familiarity with TRAX maintenance software, particularly engineering module, authoring controls and task cards
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and a demonstrated ability of acting as an effective change agent
  • Ability to produce basic cost benefit analysis for project business cases
