A rewarding Engineering internship at a leading motion solutions company with an opportunity to learn Autodesk Configure One configurator software including techniques to streamline and automate engineering processes associated with a configurable and customizable product line.
This position includes a lead role in a project to expand use of the product configurator software for Pittman brand products by utilizing a module to automate engineering Bill of Material (BOM) creation. This project is intended to improve productivity and reduce lead times to better serve customers and increase competitiveness. The intern would work closely in a cross-functional team with Engineering and IT to gather product information and enter it directly into the configurator software.
The configurator software is currently used for the creation of a model number, product characteristics and quotation only. By adding appropriate component part numbers and selection logic, it is possible to produce a BOM for the newly identified configuration at the same time. This BOM can then be used as a guide for building a prototype and as a template for releasing and importing into the MRP system.
