Job description
Provide engineering technical expertise in EWIS components design, application, testing, and assembly process development and validation. Able to support engineering interface with external and internal customers in the development of new standards or new suppliers to existing standards. Serve as the cognizant engineer responsible for all aspects of an EWIS components lifecyle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborates and coordinates with customers and suppliers to develop EWIS (electrical wiring interconnection system) components that meet customer requirements and meet company business objectives
Provides technical oversight to manage qualification test campaigns for new components
Develops qualification test plans based on internal or external requirements
Supports the Purchasing Team to identify and implement cost savings opportunities using Value Engineering methods
Develops and conducts research to support new product, processes or business opportunities
Investigates EWIS component/assembly failures and leads root cause determination
Supports the manufacturing processes and design optimization through commonality, cost, weight, producibility, and maintainability of design
Independently resolves problems that affect operational, technical, project, or research and development issues affecting the department, organization, and company
Able to lead projects to develop validated methodologies, advance engineering processes, and link business planning strategy to product definition and development
Provides functional and technical guidance to all aspects of engineering project management
Provides guidance to less experienced staff
Investigate and understand design issues to derive technology solutions
Perform assigned tasks meeting the organization's expectations for quality, schedule and process compliance
Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture

Job requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree
Master's degree in Management or Engineering discipline (preferred)
10+ years of experience in an engineering classification
1 to 5 years of Manufacturing
10 years Aerospace industry
10 years Electrical/Mechanical design or installation
1 to 5 years of CAD design
Knowledge/Skills
Technical expert on EWIS components and processes.
Expert knowledge of industry specifications and standards associated with EWIS components
Expert knowledge of EWIS component test specifications, methodologies and practices
Expert knowledge of Fabrication/Manufacturing processes for applicable designs
Strong understanding of design requirements flow, validation and compliance verification
Considered an expert in engineering principles, theories, technologies, and concepts within the industry
Expert knowledge of configuration management and product life-cycle management
Capable of resolving design issues by means of problem solving methodologies
Ability to effectively communicate and lead activities in a team environment
Ability to effectively communicate progress and/or issues to all levels of leadership and customers
Ability to make decisions applicable to job level and responsibilities
Proficiency in integrating engineering designs with manufacturing processes
Fluent in English (Written and verbal)
Ability to work with MS Office computer application
