This position supports tasks assigned by the Naval Air Warfare Center, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test and Evaluation (T&E) Branch (AIR in support of Naval Aircraft Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) T&E for adverse Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). The incumbent will serve as an engineering technician for the EMC Branch in support of all F-35, F/A-18, EA-18 and other Strike aircraft EMC T&E projects.

The incumbent will be responsible for:
• Planning, directing, and controlling the overall operation of the T&E application and testing at various NAVAIR E3 Facilities (e.g. NAWCAD Anechoic Chamber, NERF,CTR, etc.).
• Providing consultation to E3 program managers, test pilots, and test engineers in developing and ensuring timely solutions of EMI/EMC problems associated with the implementation of new and unique hardware, software, instrumentation, external configurations, and weight and balance configurations from start of development of EMC test plans until completion of EMC tests for the F-35, F/A-18, EA-18 and other Strike aircraft, as well as support other EMC T&E programs assigned.
• Performing such functions at the EMC Branch and will act as point of contact concerning project priorities and prosecutions on the F-35, F/A-18, EA-18 and other Strike aircraft complement to ensure timely EMC project execution.
• Participating as a project test team member in aircraft configuration control, data analysis, engineering functions, and with other NAWCAD divisions/Branches.
• Some travel will be required.

Education/Experience: An Associate's Degree with five (5) years of experience required; or, in lieu of Associate's Degree, a High School Diploma or equivalency certification with seven (7) years of test and engineering related experience will meet the requirement. Completion of a technical school, trade school, or armed services technical school curriculum or course of training in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armament/ordnance, or engineering technology; or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical curriculum is considered a plus. Candidates with experience with electronic sensing and/or jamming systems and/or the Next Generation Jammer (NGJ) systems will be highly considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidates who demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the F-35, F/A-18, EA-18, NGJ and other Strike aircraft will be considered first.

- Should have a working knowledge of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) engineering disciplines (specifically aircraft EMC T&E, EMI, external environment EMC, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), etc.) phenomena.
- The candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of the F-35, F/A-18, EA-18 and other Strike aircraft and their systems and subsystems.
- The candidate should have a working knowledge of unique, complex test systems, instrumentation applications, NAWCAD EMC Branch missions, workload, and capabilities of the various departments and organizations supporting the JSF Program Office priorities.
- A practical knowledge of aerospace, mechanical, and electronics engineering concepts, principles, and practices to provide an efficient and effective aircraft test and evaluation program is required.
- The candidate should understand the special requirements for facilities, scheduling, parts conditions, and military, civil service, contractor interface, contract conditions and restrictions for utilization of contractors.
- The incumbent should demonstrate sound administrative ability, judgment and leadership, foresight in making decisions for higher authority, and be able to comprehend the variety and scope of the mission which is frequently characterized by rapid and substantial changes in the workload and priorities that may impact project execution.
- Candidate must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively and professionally at multiple customer organizational levels. Excellent organizational skills are required.
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to utilize the Microsoft Office suite including (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook e-mail).
- Candidate selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. A secret clearance is required for execution of position duties.
