The Supply Chain Commodity Director is a global role that reports to the Aircraft Group Global Supply Chain Director in Moog’s Aircraft Group and is responsible for securing supplier capacity, delivering quality parts on-time at optimal total cost and developing strategic structured relationships with key suppliers. Although this role has clear managerial responsibilities within the Supply Chain process, it is in the context that the Director operates that is critical to ensure that both value and risk are systemically managed to ensure Group objectives for Quality, Delivery and Cost are achieved. The role of the Supply Chain Commodity Director is multifaceted, requiring an understanding of markets, the overall supply chain, connectivity to planning and operations, mitigating risks, and building contingencies to ensure the Group is defended against volatilities. These roles are strategically critical to the success of Aircraft Group and Moog cost and consolidation improvement targets.

Here’s what you’ll work on:

Balances long term strategic plan to determine the optimal number of suppliers needed to by the enterprise for optimal total cost and stable/predictable production support.

*

Develops risk abatement strategies to effectively manage long term commitments with a limited number of product qualified or source control suppliers.

*

Leads negotiations for individual contracts with values in excess of $60M. The incumbent must have the ability to discern, understand and account for complex and custom terms and conditions that impact negotiations and long term affectivity.

*

Directs business decisions that will have long term financial and strategic impact. Effectiveness of these decisions is directly related to the profitability of Group. In the case of the Commercial OEM business, the effectiveness of these decisions will determine business sector profitability.

*

Follows business/market/supplier trends and establishes proactive contingencies to negate or minimize impact to the enterprise.

*

Develop and implement strategy to reduce (and maintain) the total number of suppliers from 1600 to 400.

*

Develop and implement a global commodity strategy to save the operating group greater than $35M first year and buy 8% annually year on year.

Qualifications:

*

Bachelor Degree is required. Advanced graduate education in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Engineering, or Law is desirable.

*

Manager level experience in a manufacturing value stream is required. The incumbent should have progressive experience that demonstrates director level knowledge, skills and ability. Direct knowledge of government regulations (FAR, etc.) and International Procurement experience is preferred.

*

The Incumbent should have 5-10 years in a supervisory/management position. Strong team leadership and people management and lean leadership skills are required. Proven strategic/systems thinking skills are important.

*

Strong communication skills are required in the form of written, verbal and formal presentation. Incumbent should have the ability to effectively communicate with, and influence, Operation Group staff, which is made up of many disciplines, at all management levels. This also includes communications with Moog customers.
